Mr. Charlie’s
Venice
Dubbed the vegan McDonald’s, Mr. Charlie’s expanded to its second restaurant in Los Angeles last week. The new location offers the same iconic menu of burgers, fries, and nuggets right next to Muscle Beach on the iconic Venice boardwalk.
Ubuntu
West Hollywood
Overthrow Hospitality, known for its vegan restaurant empire in New York, just opened Ubuntu in Los Angeles! The menu features West African-inspired fare crafted by Chef Shenarri “Greens” Freeman, a 2022 James Beard Award semifinalist and the head chef of Cadence.
PLANTA
Marina del Rey & Brentwood (Coming Soon)
You may know about PLANTA Cocina which opened in Marina del Rey this May. But did you know that PLANTA will open its second Los Angeles location in Brentwood in September? The menu and opening date of the new spot is not yet available to the public, but stay tuned for the delicious details!
Hey Sunshine Kitchen
Culver City
Another new (and already fan-favorite) vegan restaurant in LA? Hey Sunshine Kitchen, owned by the vegan sister duo of Spork Foods! The eatery offers a variety of vibrant bowls, salads, sandwiches, and drinks worth trying.
The Moody Vegan
East Hollywood
In case you missed it, The Moody Vegan opened a brick-and-mortar in the former space of The Gray Zebra this July. The woman-owned baker offers a plethora of baked goods like vegan coffee cake, brownies, blondies, and cookies. In addition, the menu features savory bites like a vegan breakfast burrito and avocado toast.
Justine’s Wine Bar
Frogtown
Justine Hernandez opens a new vegan wine bar and restaurant today, August 3, behind her popular vegan bakery, Just What I Kneaded. Serving sustainable vegan wine and flavorful fare like Moroccan Cigars, White Béchamel Pizza, and Chocolate Chunk Cookies, Justine’s Wine Bar is an absolute must-try.
Plant Food + Wine
Beverly Hills
Although Plant Food + Wine closed in Venice, vegan celebrity chef Matthew Kenney recently opened a version of this restaurant at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills. Positioned on the wellness floor, this outdoor eatery offers light plant-based fare for hotel guests and visitors alike.
Yvonne’s Vegan Kitchen
Pasadena (Coming Soon)
Until now, Yvonne’s Vegan Kitchen has offered vegan and gluten-free baked goods for local pickup, delivery, and nationwide shipping. But later this August, the woman-owned bakery will expand to a Pasadena storefront!
