A graduate of Michigan State University, she is dedicated to creating a kinder, healthier planet and serves as a change advocate for individuals looking to reduce consumption of animal products or transition to a plant-based diet. Follow her on Instagram for vegan eats, feminist rants, and tales from the entrepreneurial trenches.

Tammie Ortlieb

Managing Editor

Tammie Ortlieb

Tammie, a vegan of 17 years, is a former psychology professor and self-proclaimed super-woke wellness guru. Indie author, kindness ambassador, and big dreamer, she’s just a girl, standing in front of a broken US food system, asking it to be vegan.

Joel Alatorre

Creative Director

Joel was born and raised in Los Angeles and is genuinely happy to call Southern California home. He loves the city, but will never pass up an opportunity to be in nature. As a vegan for 10 years, Joel is passionate about helping grow the movement and ensuring our community is inclusive, compassionate, and accepting of everyone. In addition to snapping photos and creating amazing graphics, he is VegOut’s official vegan burger taste tester.

Kimberly Tran

Creative Director

Kimberly came to Los Angeles with two goals in mind: 1) Try all the vegan food and 2) Explore all the cool spots. When not using her mad graphics skills to design our magazine, she’s rummaging through plant nurseries—pour over in one hand, camera in the other.

Jerry Ng

Jerry turned vegan after joining the VegOut team as a designer, but has been a certified “plant-based king” for the majority of his life. He enjoys surfing the net and spending time with other people’s pets. He’s still waiting for someone to teach him how to cook dried beans.
