After a heartbreaking fire, supporters rally to revive a cherished space built on culture, care, and plant-based cuisine.
Tragedy struck the beloved plant-based restaurant RAS Plant Based in New York City’s West Village this past week. A fire severely damaged the space, leaving behind heartbreaking devastation. Thankfully, no one was injured—but the road to recovery will take a village.
A Mission Beyond Food
Founded by Romeo and Milka Regalli, RAS opened its doors to the West Village location in June 2024 and quickly became a vibrant hub of culture, community, and plant-based hospitality. Inspired by their heritage and love for serving others, the couple created more than just a dining destination—they built a joyful space rooted in nourishment, expression, and connection.
The fire has left the restaurant inoperable, destroying equipment, inventory, and the beautiful ambiance they so carefully crafted. While insurance will help a bit, it doesn’t come close to covering the cost of rebuilding or supporting their dedicated team during this unexpected closure.

Community Support Is Everything
Romeo and Milka have launched a GoFundMe campaign to help bring RAS West Village back to life. Contributions will go directly toward replacing vital kitchen equipment, restocking ingredients, rebuilding the interior, and supporting their incredible team during the closure.
RAS has always been about showing love through food, and now the community has the chance to return that love. Whether you’re a regular, a first-time visitor, or someone who simply believes in the resilience of independent restaurants, every donation helps.
The vegan food scene in NYC wouldn’t be the same without RAS. Let’s show up for this beautiful space and the inspiring couple behind it. Share the campaign, send some love, and if you’re able, donate here to help rebuild RAS' West Village location.
Just launched: Laughing in the Face of Chaos by Rudá Iandê
Exhausted from trying to hold it all together?
You show up. You smile. You say the right things. But under the surface, something’s tightening. Maybe you don’t want to “stay positive” anymore. Maybe you’re done pretending everything’s fine.
This book is your permission slip to stop performing. To understand chaos at its root and all of your emotional layers.
In Laughing in the Face of Chaos, Brazilian shaman Rudá Iandê brings over 30 years of deep, one-on-one work helping people untangle from the roles they’ve been stuck in—so they can return to something real. He exposes the quiet pressure to be good, be successful, be spiritual—and shows how freedom often lives on the other side of that pressure.
This isn’t a book about becoming your best self. It’s about becoming your real self.
