NotMayo will hit shelves across the United States this month.
Say goodbye to boring sandwiches! Kraft Heinz has announced a collaboration with NotCo to launch a vegan mayonnaise, NotMayo! The regional launch of their NotMayo across the Midwest, Northeast, and Southeast begins this month. The release follows the successful launch of their plant-based cheese slices last year, currently available at Giant Eagle stores in the Cleveland area.
Kraft Heinz’s New Vegan Mayo
NotMayo uses chickpea flour and other plant-based ingredients to create a smooth and creamy texture with a savory taste similar to traditional animal-derived mayo. The product is shelf-stable and will be available in the mayo aisle at a suggested retail price of $5.99, offering another great plant-based mayonnaise option at an affordable price.
The NotMayo launch is part of a broader aim to democratize plant-based food options and increase plant-based offerings as part of Kraft Heinz’s goal to support people, nutrition, and health. The Kraft Heinz company, for example, also owns another health-conscious, planet-friendly brand—Primal Kitchen—which produces a variety of vegan sauces and dressings.
NotCo maintains a mission of veganizing traditionally non-vegan foods such as their NotBurger, NotChicken, and NotMilk. They also have an existing collaboration with Shake Shack where they offer vegan custard chocolate shakes at select locations across the country. The joint venture aims to expand nationally and scale into Canada later this year.
How to Use Vegan Mayo
The Kraft Heinz-NotCo’s culinary team tested NotMayo in a wide range of applications. Mix your NotMayo into plant-based crunchy slaws for extra creaminess or slather elote style on grilled corn for the perfect springtime barbecue. Consider using NotMayo in creamy dips, chickpea salad sandwiches, and with salty fries!
