From al fresco brunch to late-night bites, we've crafted an itinerary to help you make the most of your day in Georgia’s oldest city.

Stroll on red-bricked roads below ancient oak trees draped in Spanish moss. Savannah, Georgia, with its historic charm and haunted history, is the perfect destination for a 24-hour vegan adventure.

South Historic District & Forsyth Park

Appreciate the historic Hamilton-Turner Inn, famously featured in Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. This stunning 1873 French Empire-style architectural gem is a testament to Savannah’s rich artistic history. Then head to Forsyth Park for a bite at Brighter Day, a local health food store with lots of vegan grab-and-go offerings. Pick up a Red Detox Juice or Cucumber Hummus Sandwich to enjoy an impromptu picnic in Forsyth Park, one of Savannah’s most beloved green spaces. Breathe deeply in the beautiful Garden of Fragrance, a sensory garden filled with aromatic plants, and revel in the serenity of this lush oasis.

Victorian District

For lunch, pay The Sentient Bean a visit, conveniently located right across from Brighter Day. This cozy cafe offers a menu full of vegan-friendly options, such as Breakfast Tacos and Quinoa Tempeh Bowls, to satisfy your midday cravings. Enjoy your meal in the charming Victorian District, known for its picturesque streets and historic homes. Don’t forget to visit the birthplace of Juliet Gordon Low, founder of the Girl Scouts, and perhaps pick up some vegan Girl Scout cookies as a sweet souvenir. You’ll also want to make a stop at the red-brick 1892 Kehoe House, another remarkable historic mansion that showcases Savannah’s architectural splendor.

Midtown

For dinner, head to Kayak Cafe and relish in Walnut Chorizo Tacos or an Eggplant Panini. Situated near the Marshall House, which USA Today named one of the best haunted hotels in the US, this cafe offers a cozy atmosphere and fresh-forward menu. Afterward, take a leisurely walk down famous Broughton Street to peruse boutique shops.

Riverside District

No visit to Savannah is complete without indulging in a classic dessert at Leopold’s Ice Cream. Enjoy a scoop of their rotating vegan-friendly ice cream flavors as you stroll the Riverwalk, listening to live music and taking in the picturesque views of steamboats. For a nightcap, venture to Myrtle & Rose Rooftop Garden for botanical drinks in a serene setting. Sip on their refreshing Georgia Kiss (Belvedere vodka, blood orange, lemon juice) or Riverside Paloma (Volcan Blanco tequila, grapefruit, citrus, lime, soda) while enjoying the shifting rooftop views of the city.

North Historic District

Before calling it a night, satisfy your late-night cravings with a visit to Spudnik, a space-themed twice-baked potato restaurant famous for its heaping bowls of mashed yellow or sweet potatoes loaded with unique toppings, including red pepper hummus, pita chips, black beans, lemon herb blend, sriracha, sesame seeds, and more.

Savannah’s rich history, charming streets, and vibrant vegan food scene make it a must-visit destination for any plant-based traveler. Enjoy your 24-hour adventure in this enchanting city!
