Burger King Is Testing Vegan Chicken Nuggets
The fast-food chain will add Impossible Chicken Nuggets to select locations beginning October 11.
Burger King has been at the forefront of the vegan meat replacement game for a few years now. They were one of the first fast-food chains to try out the Impossible Burger and now, Burger King is adding vegan Impossible Chicken Nuggets to the menu at select locations.
Vegan Chicken Nuggets at Burger King
Beginning October 11, Burger King will kick off a trial run of the Impossible Chicken Nuggets in three cities: Des Moines, Boston, and Miami. The nuggets will be available for a limited time in an eight-piece order and will come with your choice of dipping sauce. If the trial run goes well, we can hopefully expect to see a more extensive release nationwide.
The newly-released Impossible Chicken Nuggets are made from soy, sunflower oil, and herbs and come coated in wheat crumbs for that perfect, crunchy finish that will fool even the most dedicated meat-eaters. In fact, in a blind taste test that Impossible Foods conducted in Texas earlier this year, 74% of meat-eating consumers preferred Impossible Chicken Nuggets over animal chicken nuggets!
Vegan Options at Burger King
Burger King is surprisingly vegan-friendly, with several items safe to order as-is. If you’re in the mood for breakfast, the French toast sticks (and the accompanying maple syrup) are egg-free and completely vegan! They just might be the best thing on the menu, but we’ll let you order them and decide for yourself. The hash browns, French fries, and applesauce are all vegan as they come as well. As far as dipping sauces go, the BBQ sauce and sweet-and-sour sauce are both vegan, and some Burger King locations will have additional vegan sauces.
If you’re in the mood for a burger, the only modification that the Impossible Whopper needs to make it vegan is to remove the mayo. Yup, the bun is vegan too.
Head over to Burger King’s website for all further updates on the new launch, and check out Impossible Foods’ store locator to see which grocery stores near you are carrying the new vegan nuggets.
