Los Angeles

Silver Lake, one of LA’s trendiest neighborhoods, is a haven for delicious vegan food. Whether you’re looking for a refreshing acai bowl, decadent stuffed shells, or a killer weekend brunch, you can find that and more throughout Silver Lake. Here are a few of our favorites!

Flore Vegan

A Silver Lake staple for more than twelve years, Flore offers an eclectic menu—and wonderful brunch—with a variety of items such as tacos, bowls, pizzas, and burgers. Their menu is accommodating for other dietary preferences such as soy-free and gluten-free options. Our favorites include the “Chicken and Waffles” at brunch and the Tempeh Reuben on the gluten-free millet bread. After being given notice to vacate their storefront, Flore is currently working hard to open at their new location in Silver Lake.

Little Pine

Musician and vegan (for 30+ years) superstar, Moby, opened Little Pine about four years ago, and it has quickly become a vegan landmark in Silver Lake. The coolest thing about Little Pine—besides the incredible food—is that 100% of the profits go straight to animal rights organizations. All menu items are organic—and nut-free, soy-free, and gluten-free items are clearly labeled. Try the Stuffed Shells, Macaroni & Cheese, or Spicy Jackfruit Brochettes.

Magpies Softserve

Magpies Softserve is a from-scratch mostly-vegan soft serve dessert shop where all flavors and toppings are made in-house. There is a daily rotating menu with unique flavors like Rum White Coffee, Mexican Hot Chocolate, and Blueberry Pie. An assortment of vegan toppings are available and include Chocolate Hard Shell, Non Dairy Fudge Sauce, and Candied Pecans. Think you will miss ice cream on a vegan diet? Think again! Stop by, and let us know what you think.

Bulan Thai Vegetarian Kitchen

Some days you just really want hearty Thai food. Look no further than Bulan Thai. While not 100% vegan, most dishes can be made vegan (and gluten-free). The expansive menu boasts great prices, with entrées averaging at about $12. From noodle dishes to pad thai and various curries, you can’t go wrong. Oh, and make sure to try the coconut rice—you’ll thank us later.

Jewel

Jewel is a plant-based restaurant with a focus on Southern California produce. While they do offer some animal products, most menu items are vegan and gluten-free by default—those that aren’t vegan are noted as such. From dynamic grain bowls with fermented veggies to crispy young coconut meat tacos, this flavorful menu will never disappoint!

Millie’s

Millie’s first opened its doors in 1926 and has been serving Silver Lake ever since. Get there early on the weekends to beat the brunch line, and regardless of when you go, make sure to ask for their separate vegan menu! We recommend the Angel’s Mess, Vegan Banana Milkshake, or Millie’s Burrito.

The Silver Lake House by Leela Thai

Located just south of the reservoir on Silver Lake Boulevard, The Silver Lake House has called the neighborhood home since 1995. There aren’t just a few vegan options … there’s an entirely separate vegan menu with more than forty mouth-watering vegan eats to choose from—from appetizers like drunken dumplings and potato wontons, to noodles, rice dishes, and flavorful curries.

by CHLOE.

Silver Lake is home to LA’s only location of this vegan fast-casual chain that originated in New York City. Grab something on-the-go or sit down and chill with your friends for a flavor-packed, cruelty-free bite. We love the Air Baked Fries, The Guac Burger, and Quinoa Taco Salad. Finish it off with a Lemon Sprinkle Cookie, Sorbet Pop, or Chocolate Cupcake. P.S. by CHLOE. will be opening two new LA locations this summer!

My Vegan Gold

My Vegan Gold is a modern café serving up plant-based goodness with an Asian twist. With wide-ranging options like pho, tacos, bowls, wraps, and burgers, you can be sure there will be something for everyone in your party.

Juice Crafters

Need to reset after the weekend or just want some unadulterated nutrients? Juice Crafters has got you covered! Located right near Sunset Junction, Juice Crafters can hook you up with a wellness shot, fresh juice or smoothie, or a filling acai bowl. Try the Muscle Builder Smoothie or Acai Brazilian Super Blend Bowl.
