Chris Paul Invests in Vegan Brand Wicked Kitchen

Wicked Kitchen added another investor to its impressive lineup last week when NBA star Chris Paul announced that he will be backing the growing plant-based brand. Wicked Kitchen has been on a rapid nationwide expansion track for the last couple of years, with big names such as Woody Harrelson, Paris Hilton, and Lance Bass already on board as investors. To celebrate Chris Paul joining the team, Wicked Kitchen is hosting a giveaway of Chris Paul’s new book Sixty-One, which can be entered on Instagram.

Seattle-Based Vegan Ice Cream Shop Opens in San Francisco

Frankie & Jo’s is a vegan scoop shop that has amassed a loyal following in Seattle over the last 10 years. This week, the brand opened its first shop outside Washington, in the Northern California town of Larkspur. Frankie & Jo’s offers classic and innovative vegan ice cream flavors made from clean and real ingredients. Like the shop in Seattle, this new outpost features rotating flavors, many of which are also available for nationwide shipping. Frankie & Jo’s new location is open from 11am-9pm daily.

Saffron Road Releases Two New Vegan Frozen Meals

Quick and easy vegan food just got more exciting! Saffron Road is a company that offers frozen and ready-to-eat meals inspired by global cuisine. The brand is certified gluten-free and halal and already carries several varieties of frozen and bagged plant-based meals. The newest additions to the frozen plant-based lineup are Coconut Cauliflower Curry and Chickpea Masala. Both new entrees will be available at Kroger locations nationwide beginning in August.

White House Hosts Plant-Based State Dinner for Indian Prime Minister

The White House made history last week when it hosted a fully vegan three-course dinner in honor of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Chef Nina Curtis was asked to prepare the meal for 400 guests by First Lady Dr. Jill Biden. The dinner blended American cuisine with Indian flavors and featured a Millet & Corn Salad, Stuffed Portobello Mushrooms & Risotto, and a Rose & Cardamom-infused Strawberry Shortcake.

Alkaline Vegan Restaurant Opens in Indianapolis Mall

Alkaline Electric Goddess is a vegan pop-up that has gained a loyal following in Indianapolis over the past few years. Run by Ellise Nikki Johnson, the brand provides educational materials on incorporating alkaline foods into diets as well as food prep services. Alkaline Electric Goddess’ new brick-and-mortar is open in the food court at Circle Centre Mall. Some menu highlights include BBQ Jackfruit sandwiches, mac ‘n’ cheese, and sea moss smoothies. The brand will continue to offer meal prep and catering services alongside restaurant service.
