VegOut is published by Brown Brothers Media. A Magazine Editor leads the editorial direction of each issue. A roster of named writers contribute under their own bylines across two editorial sections, Eat Better and Live Lighter. Every piece on the site has been reviewed by the editorial team and is corrected when wrong.

Magazine Editor
Chris Jeremia is the professional byline of Christy Suriadi, Magazine Editor. Chris is the Editor of VegOut Magazine. She is a writer, yoga instructor, and former national triathlete whose work focuses on what it means to live consciously beyond the mat and the finish line. Her writing examines presence and connection — to nature, to others, and to self. Her first issue as Editor was the February 2026 edition, Longevity, Legacy & the Things That Last, opening with the Ise Jingu shrine in Japan and running through reporting on recycling, burnout, the wardrobe kept for a lifetime. She edits the magazine, is the named editor responsible for work published under the VegOut Editorial Team label, and works with the wider writer roster on commissioning.

Writer
Ainura Kalau is the professional byline of Ainura Yermagambetova. Ainura was born in Central Asia, spent over a decade in Malaysia, and studied at an Australian university before settling in São Paulo, where she now raises her family. Her life blends cultures and perspectives. She writes for VegOut on food, family, and the small daily choices that build a conscious life. Her recipes appear regularly in the magazine.
Daniel Moran
Writer
Daniel writes about psychology, identity, and the patterns that shape how people move through middle adulthood — the specific honesties that arrive in your late thirties, the conversations with parents that become possible only at a certain age, the work of unlearning the version of yourself you performed in your twenties. He contributes to VegOut, Silicon Canals, and The Vessel.
Graeme Richards
Writer
Graeme Richards is the professional byline of Graeme Brown, a VegOut editor who also writes under his own name across Brown Brothers Media publications. Graeme is an Australian writer with a long-standing interest in food, sustainability, and how the two intersect. He grew up in a country shaped by drought, abundance, and the constant tension between agriculture and ecology. At VegOut he focuses on sustainable cuisine through an Australian lens — native ingredients, regenerative agriculture, the small choices that scale.
Jeanette Brown
Writer
Jeanette is a coach, writer, and course creator based in Australia. After a long career in education leadership, she now writes about reinvention — particularly the work of building a meaningful second half of life. Her writing blends neuroscience, mindfulness, and journal-based coaching. She writes for Live Lighter on reinvention and habit.
Kiran Athar
Writer
Kiran Athar also publishes as Kiran Journals; both names identify the same writer. Kiran is a freelance writer with a degree in multimedia journalism. Her work explores spirituality, psychology, and love. At VegOut she writes for Eat Better and Live Lighter, building bridges between people through the small conversations that change us.
Mal James
Writer
Mal is a writer and teacher with a passion for self-development, productivity, relationships, and business. An avid reader across genres, he brings a teacher's frame to writing that helps readers think through their own lives. He writes for Live Lighter.
Nato Lagidze
Writer
Nato is a writer and researcher with an academic background in psychology. Her coverage focuses on self-compassion, emotion regulation, and the emotional bonds between people and places. She writes for Live Lighter, with cross-coverage on culture and the social forces shaping how we live.
Rudá Iandê
Writer
Rudá Iandê is a Brazilian shaman and contemporary spiritual teacher. His work blends ancestral earth wisdom with modern psychological insight. He is co-creator of The Vessel, a platform for transformational learning. At VegOut, Rudá writes for Live Lighter on embodiment, intuition, and the inner life of conscious living.

VegOut was founded in Los Angeles in 2016 by Maggie Ortlieb. Writers from the founding years — among them Maggie Ortlieb, Tammie Ortlieb, Anja Grommons and Allie Mitchell — remain credited on the articles they wrote and keep their profile pages. They are not part of the current editorial team, which is listed above. Brown Brothers Media has published VegOut since 2025.
Editorial process
Articles attributed to a named writer are published with that writer's approval, and any personal experiences or credentials attributed to them are their own.
Articles published under the VegOut Editorial Team label are produced by VegOut's editorial team. Editorial responsibility for that work rests with VegOut and its Magazine Editor.
Every piece on the site has been read and approved by an editor; new pieces are approved before publication. Nutrition claims, food-industry reporting and personal-experience essays receive an additional read. AI tools support drafting and research; they do not make editorial decisions. In memoriam
We honour the contribution of Hiago Martins, a writer and musician for VegOut, who passed away in 2026. We have kept his published work and bio on the site in his memory.
