Happy Earth Month! This collegiate café is offering oat milk as the beverage default all month long.

Dairy milk who? In the era of popular plant-based milk choices, diners are customizing their coffee orders with their fave sustainable milk alternatives. In the name of giving customers what they want, the University of San Diego’s main coffee shop, Aromas Café, will feature oat milk as the default in all of its coffee creations during the month of April. Looks like we’re heading back to school to celebrate Earth Month! We hope to see you there.

University of San Diego’s Aroma’s Café Pilots Oat Milk Default Program

Located on the Pacific Coast of California, change is brewing at the University of San Diego. Aromas Café, USD’s main coffee shop, is launching a first-of-its-kind pilot program to serve popular oat milk as the automatic norm for all of its coffee orders. This means that during the month of April, diners ordering cappuccinos, lattes, and other café go-tos will automatically receive this creamy plant-based milk without having to ask. This private research university is the first school café in the United States to pilot such a sustainable and delicious initiative. Go Toreros!

USD Disrupts the Dairy Scene by Offering Oat Milk at No Extra Charge

The change will take place during the month of April, increasing inclusive café choices for students and patrons at no extra charge. This month-long program seeks to disrupt the dairy milk scene by offering customers delicious and popular plant-based options that are more sustainable for the environment. Aromas Café joins the list of local coffee shops, like Blue Bottle and Peet’s Coffee, who have removed the upcharge of non-dairy milk and/or offered the plant-based beverage as the menu’s default. Southern California definitely knows how we take our coffee!

Aromas Café Features San Diego Mainstays

Aromas Café is one of the many vegan-friendly dining services located on the University of San Diego’s campus. The café serves offerings from San Diego mainstays like Peet’s Coffee and Ryan Bros Teas. Additionally, the college café offers an array of gourmet baked goods and grab-and-go meal options along with fill-your-own kombucha, cold brew, and iced tea. The sustainable cafe also offers a discount for patrons who bring their own mugs! If you’re in the San Diego area and looking to show your support, pop in during the month of April for a cruelty-free coffee creation.

Aromas Café is located on the ground floor of the first-year residence building, Maher Hall. Maher Hall can be found at 5998 Alcala Park Way, San Diego, CA 92110. Café hours are 7am-8pm on Mondays and Tuesdays, 7am-6pm on Wednesdays, and 7am-3pm on Fridays. Aromas Café is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
