If you like vegan cocktails, live music, and entertainment, you’ll love Cheer Up Charlies! So if you find yourself in Austin with nothing to do, dance the night away at this vegan Queer-owned bar and nightclub!
Cheer Up Charlies in Austin
Cheer Up Charlies first began as a food truck in 2009 on Sixth Street, serving raw chocolates and sandwiches. One year later, the business transitioned from a food truck to a brick-and-mortar bar in March 2010, the week of the popular music and film festival, SXSW.
Over 13 years into operations, Cheer Up Charlies is now a staple venue for LGBTQ+ members and allies to get together, dance, hang out, and enjoy live entertainment. Cheer Up Charlies hosts everything from dance parties and karaoke nights to drag brunches and holidays like “FriGAY the 13th.” The space features an outdoor patio with live music, and it’s dog-friendly!
Kombucha on Tap, Local Beer, Biodynamic Wines, and Cocktails
The all-vegan beverage offerings at Cheer Up Charlies include Wunder-Pilz kombucha on tap, local beer, biodynamic wine, and cocktails. And cleverly named cocktails like the Valley Girl, Kale Lime Gingerita, and Banana Hammock feature fresh-squeezed juice.
Vegan Food From Arlo’s Food Truck
If you’re hungry, order vegan food from Arlo’s food truck parked outside! The iconic vegan food trailer serves a variety of handhelds like the BBQ, Frito Pie, and Double Bac’n Cheeze Burgers, as well as a Jalapeño Ranch Chik’n Sandwich. On the side, order Tots, Queso, Totchos, Frito Pie, Mac & Cheeze, Chili Mac, or Chili. Offering sauces like Chipotle Mayo and Jalapeño Ranch to pair with your meal, it’s no secret that Arlo’s is an Austin favorite.
Cheer Up Charlies is open from 4pm to 2am Tuesdays through Sundays. For more information, visit CheerUpCharlies.com or follow @cheerupcharlies on Instagram.
