The undisputed queen of Filipino comfort food, Chef Reina Montenegro, is set to open a new brick-and-mortar under her namesake in the Bay Area on April 8!
Filipina American Chef Reina Montenegro, known for her three successful (now defunct) concepts in the Bay Area (Nick’s Kitchen, Nick’s on Grand, and Nick’s on Mission) is stepping out front and center with an all-new, all-vegan Filipino spot named Chef Reina. The new storefront debuts as an online food ordering concept ready for the masses via pre-order and a walk-up to-go window. The physical space will also serve as a location for Montenegro to produce virtual cooking demos and events to share her contributions and techniques with a larger audience.
“It feels so good to be on my own and doing what I absolutely love without anything or anyone holding me back,” said Montenegro. “I feel that finally my life is aligned where I can soar high and do what I am passionate about, which is ultimately to convince people to end suffering, not only to the environment or to the animals, but also themselves.”
Chef Reina has also partnered with OmniPork (of OmniFoods) as one of nine restaurants in the US hosting a special Earth Day menu on April 22nd before the product hits the retail market. OmniPork’s new plant-based pork alternative will be available in ground, strips, or luncheon form. Using the new line, Chef Reina’s menu will feature Luncheon Meat Silog, Luncheon Meat Fried Rice, Luncheon Meat Musubi, Lumpia Shanghai, Misua Soup, Longaniza, and Sweet & Sour Bola Bola.
Chef Reina is located at 33 Visitacion Avenue, Brisbane, CA 94005 and opens Thursday, April 8 at 11am, with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 11:30am. For more information on the launch and the new menu, follow Chef Reina on IG (@Chef.Reina) or visit ChefReina.com.
