Where to Find Vegan Conchas in Los Angeles
Get your vegan pan dulce on at these spots in LA!
A concha is a traditional Mexican pan dulce or “sweet bread roll” with a crunchy topping stamped on to create a shell-like design. The confections are a nostalgic and fundamental part of Mexican culture that taste great solo, dipped in coffee, or as a dessert with your favorite toppings—like whipped cream and berries! Conchas are traditionally made with butter and eggs, but there are quite a few panaderias and pop-ups that offer plant-based renditions! Here’s where to find vegan conchas in Los Angeles.
Soy Concha Bakery dominates the pan dulce playing field with conchas of all categories. They’ve got chocolate and vanilla, but the standout is their Como La Flor, a Selena-inspired bright purple concha dusted in edible glitter. Check out their other traditional eats like borregos, gansitos, elotes, galletas, and puerquitos—we could continue to list their goodies, but you’ll have to check them out for yourself!

This family-owned bakery stocks eye-catching vegan conchas that are a beautiful combination of soft and sweet. Every holiday, Toluca Bakery & Cafe offers festive shapes and flavors of the classic sweet bread that will take your dessert table to the next level! You can also place a special order for conchas or mini conchas by the dozen in any flavor or color you’d like.
Haven’t read a flavor that’s caught your attention? Challenge accepted! How about your choice of coconut, watermelon, chocolate, mango, guava, pineapple, almond, raspberry, cinnamon, or coffee flavors? Okay, we’re being smart now, but all of these and more are possible when you order from Conchitas Veganas. Welcome your indecisiveness back with all these flavor options.

Pop-Up & Special Order
This vegan pop-up takes an adorable and quirky spin on the traditional shell-stamped pan dulce by adding a head and legs and turning the conchas into turtles. Sweet n’ Peaceful’s Turtle Conchas have to be one of the cutest confections out there and best of all, they taste amazing!
Melrose & Sherman Oaks
At this all-vegan Mexican restaurant, you can get your fix of tacos and treats all at one stop. Finish off your visit here with one of Sugar Taco’s delectable desserts, like their signature flavored conchas that are made fresh daily. Pro tip: Ask for yours deep-fried and enjoy it with a glass of horchata—you’ll thank us later!
This vegan-friendly panaderia makes some of the tastiest plant-based conchas out there. They’ve got the traditional vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate flavors but during the holidays, Panaderia La Mexicana breaks out limited-edition varieties—like pumpkin spice! Aside from these iconic shell-stamped sweet rolls, Panaderia La Mexicana also makes vegan tamales, puerquitos, and other pan dulce.
Pico-Union & Echo Park
Panaderia Cuscatleca is a hidden vegan-friendly gem in the heart of Los Angeles. They offer vegan pink and white conchas that are perfect to stock up on for when your sweet cravings hit. You can also pick up vegan chocolate cake, tres leches, cinnamon rolls, Salvadoran tortas, fried tamales, and more.
Another vital sweet to the Hispanic community is churros. But how does an indecisive vegan choose between a churro and a concha? You don’t! This vegan-friendly spot makes your decision a bit easier with their Vegan Churro Concha, a love child of the two fan favorites. Now to decide how many to get. If you’re craving a more classic flavor, do not fear! They’ve also got vegan vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry conchas.
