Baked by Yoga is killing the vegan dessert game!

If you follow us, chances are you like to stay in the know on what’s hot and new in the vegan scene. One of our most recent obsessions is any- and everything from the Los Angeles-based micro-bakery, Baked by Yoga! This self-taught Black female baker makes the best vegan cinnamon rolls we’ve ever tasted.

Vegan-Friendly Micro-Bakery in Los Angeles

Frustrated by the unnecessary ingredients in boxed cake mixes, Yoga began experimenting with recipes of her own at 19 years old. Over the next decade, Yoga spent a lot of time testing recipes, tweaking them to her liking (like replacing cranberries for raisins in oatmeal cookies), and watching several YouTube videos about baking—most regularly, videos on making pie crusts. When asked what she attributes most of her skill to, Yoga said, “Trial and error. Shoutout to my family and friends for being honest taste-testers.”

Over the years, Yoga’s desserts became such a hit with her friends and family that they encouraged her to start a business. In the fall of 2020, Baked by Yoga was founded in Los Angeles as a vegan-friendly micro-bakery, a small home-based bakery that operates through special orders for pickup and delivery.

The Menu at Baked by Yoga

The menu at Baked by Yoga features a variety of indulgent desserts with vegan options in outrageously delicious flavor combinations—from Peach Cobbler Cinnamon Rolls and Salted Caramel Chocolate Cake Jars to Birthday Cake Banana Pudding! Yoga told VegOut, “Most of my inspiration comes from what’s seasonal! I get so excited when the seasons change and different fruits start to become available. I love finding new ways to let the flavors shine. My husband is also a great cook and has this crazy palate. His meals alone inspire me to get creative and try new things. He also makes great flavor suggestions. And my kids, of course! Because if they don’t love it, I ain’t sellin’ it!”

The Best Vegan Cinnamon Rolls on the Market

We first learned of Baked by Yoga through a mukbang Lizzo posted on TikTok trying a Peach Cobbler Cinnamon Roll, which Yoga shared as one of her favorite moments to date. As soon as we saw Lizzo’s reaction, we knew we had to try these sweet buns for ourselves—and we are SO glad we did because they’re the best vegan cinnamon rolls on the market. When asked who she hopes will try her desserts next, Yoga said, “I’m just going to shoot my shot and say Beyoncé. Getting my desserts to her is definitely on my list!” So if any of you are close with Queen Bey, be sure to let her know about these dank vegan desserts!

At the moment, Baked by Yoga is looking for a commercial kitchen to operate out of to fulfill orders. To stay updated on when, where, and how you can order these desserts, follow @bakedbyyoga on Instagram.
