The Pacific Northwest plant-based ice cream brand makes its California debut.
After experiencing remarkable growth, national recognition, and a reputation for creativity, Frankie & Jo’s, a vegan ice cream brand from Seattle, is embarking on a new chapter by opening its first scoop shop outside of Washington state. Situated within the historic Marin Country Mart in Larkspur, California, this highly anticipated expansion marks a significant milestone for the company. The doors of the new scoop shop open today, Wednesday, June 28.
A Journey of Success and Innovation
Founded in 2013 by Autumn Martin, Frankie & Jo’s quickly gained a dedicated following. In 2016, Martin, alongside her business partner and co-founder Kari Brunson, opened their first Seattle scoop shop, which garnered significant attention and enthusiasm from ice cream enthusiasts. The brand’s claim to fame lies in its ability to transform beloved ice cream flavors into the creamiest and most decadent vegan creations while maintaining a clean ingredient list. Each year, Frankie & Jo’s introduces up to 30 new ice creams and novelty products, all of which are plant-based, gluten-free, non-GMO, sustainably sourced, and prepared with the highest standards. In addition to three scoop shops in Seattle, the brand also offers nationwide shipping.
Frankie & Jo’s First California Location
Although initially eyeing Los Angeles as its first California location, Frankie & Jo’s seized a unique opportunity by choosing Marin Country Mart for its expansion. Martin expressed her excitement, saying, “California has been a dream for years, and our goal has always been to get this ice cream out to more people. We had our eyes on LA as our first California shop, but the chance to open in Marin Country Mart continued to present itself over the last few years as a unique opportunity, and we couldn’t pass it up.”
Frankie & Jo’s new scoop shop occupies a bustling corner of Marin Country Mart and boasts a sprawling outdoor patio. The shop seamlessly incorporates the brand’s signature design accents, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that mirrors their renowned hospitality. Martin expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “We are sooo excited for the Bay Area to have access to our ice cream and hope that everyone enjoys our tiny but mighty shop.”
Brunson added, “To be opening a shop in Marin County is a full circle experience for me—my Mother grew up in California, and I spent years going to the Bay Area as a child, vacationing in Bodega Bay with my family and exploring the streets of San Francisco. I have always felt like a California girl at heart and am grateful to have the opportunity to add to the incredible food culture the Bay Area community has created.”
A Delicious Selection for Every Palate
At the new shop, visitors can delight in Frankie & Jo’s core flavors, monthly seasonals, Marin-specific novelty items, and merchandise.
Find the new Frankie & Jo’s location at Marin Country Mart, 2257 Larkspur Landing Circle, Larkspur, CA 94939. The store will be open seven days a week from 11am to 9pm.
