After three years of obstacles, Soy Concha Bakery finally soft opens its East LA vegan panaderia today, July 28! Stop by and support the beloved vegan Mexican bakery and pick up plant-based conchas for your colleagues, family, and friends.
Soy Concha Bakery Formerly Known as Vegan By Victoria’s
Earvin Lopez first opened Soy Concha Bakery (formerly known as Vegan By Victoria’s) in Santa Ana near the end of 2017. Offering vegan renditions of Mexican pastries, this vegan panaderia quickly gained traction—especially in Southern California’s Latine community, as these cultural classics were otherwise not found vegan in the area. Customers obsessed over Soy Concha Bakery’s conchas, galletas, besos, bolillos, puerquitos, and more. But it was only a matter of time before Los Angeles vegans made requests for a closer location.

New Vegan Panaderia in East LA
Soy Concha Bakery announced plans to open a new vegan panaderia in East LA back in 2019. But with the pandemic, among other obstacles, it seemed almost impossible for this location to open. “We’ve been trying for 2+ years, paying rent for 2+ years, through a pandemic when everything was shutting down we still paid rent for 2 locations while only working out of one. We’ve had to do so many changes, get tons of permits, we’ve been scammed by contractors, and still we kept pushing but honestly we feel like we’ve reached an end and might be calling it quits and just give up on the location,” Lopez said in an Instagram post in July 2021.
Soy Concha Bakery Soft Opening Friday, July 28
But this summer, Soy Concha Bakery finally made good headway. The East LA location passed inspection and just received approval to open to the public! And with that, Soy Concha Bakery announced its soft opening on Instagram. Today, Friday, July 28, the panaderia’s new location at 6164 Whittier Blvd, East Los Angeles, CA 90022 will soft open from 7am to 3pm. Official operating hours have yet to be announced.
