Plant Junkie: Where Vegan Comfort Food Meets Sustainability

The innovative creation of Nat Milner and Chef Hiranth Jayasinghe, Plant Junkie bridges the experienced duo’s shared passion for plant-based eating and environmental sustainability. With Milner’s 25 years in the industry and Chef Jayasinghe’s Sri Lankan roots and culinary expertise, the restaurant was primed for success—serving up globally inspired comfort food. Quickly becoming a fan favorite, Plant Junkie nourishes its customers one plant-based meal at a time. Rooted in friendship and a pro-environment mission, this NYC gem is known for its crave-worthy plant-based comfort food and gluten-free options—it’s time to dig in!

Plant Junkie’s menu options include bowls, sandwiches, salads, sides, and desserts with a little something for everyone sprinkled throughout. A local favorite, Plant Junkie’s Sri Lankan Karma Bowl features seitan and chickpea curries, yellow basmati rice, coconut kale, and crispy papadum. The restaurant’s Low Country Bowl includes Buffalo nuggets, cornbread, coleslaw, garlic broccoli, and crispy shallots while The Tree Hugger is a quinoa and black bean burger with chipotle mayo—we’re always up for a chipotle mayo moment.

Near and dear to our hearts, the NY “Chicken” Caesar includes a crispy vegan chicken patty, kale, romaine, avocado, and vegan Caesar dressing—a true girl dinner classic if you ask us. Not sure what to choose? Narrowing down your order can be the hardest decision of the day when dining at Plant Junkie. But don’t forget, diners can finish off their meal with one of the restaurant’s rotating chef-crafted cookies, so be sure to save some room. Don’t mind if we do!
