The iconic vegan diner is closing up shop after 12 years of service.

The Brooklyn-based restaurant, Champs Diner, recently announced plans to permanently close its doors this coming weekend. Known for its veganized diner fare, Champs Diner has been a favored restaurant for over a decade. Its popularity even led to a short-lived second location, Champs Jr., in Greenpoint several years back. Champs Diner has remained a New York mainstay, filling the sidewalks with a line of new and repeat customers each weekend. The all-vegan eatery shared the news of its upcoming closure on Instagram and Facebook earlier in the week.

“Hey friends, after 12 years, 2 locations, and more pancakes than we’ll ever be able to count, we’ll be closing shop. As it goes, there isn’t just one reason, but we are insanely grateful for all of the love and support we’ve gotten over the years from every single one of you. We had an epic run. Come by and celebrate with us this week, our last day is Sunday, let’s get wild,” shared the owners on the company’s social media platforms.

Fans of the diner immediately took to social media to recount their favorite moments spent at Champs. This vegan joint will be remembered for its cozy, inviting atmosphere and classic American diner fare. Think chicken wings, mozzarella sticks, burgers, shakes, and all-day breakfast offerings. It’s safe to say Champs Diner will truly be missed!

Looking for one more opportunity to crush those Champs cravings? The popular hot spot will continue service through Sunday, January 29. Champs Diner will finish out its final weekend operating 10am-4pm and 4:30-11pm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Find this East Williamsburg staple at 197 Meserole St, Brooklyn, NY 11206. Please be kind and patient with the staff during this transition and don’t forget to have a vegan milkshake for us!
