Founder Derrick Faulcon, a formerly incarcerated individual of 11 years, opened Cloudy Donut Co with the mission of promoting community and inclusivity.

Cloudy Donut Co is taking the city by storm with its 100% plant-based donuts made from ingredients such as applesauce, coconut milk, and shortening instead of animal products. Cloudy Donut Co currently offers over 40 unique, tasty flavors with eight available each week. Pre-order these sweets in Grapefruit Mimosa, Bananas Foster, Blackberry Mint Mojito, and more. Or keep it classic by opting for chocolate or vanilla–there’s something for everyone at Cloudy Donut Co. The shop also stocks two dog-friendly donut options for customers with companion dogs, including their Snoopy Doggy ( a peanut butter glazed donut topped with cheddar dog treats) and their Lil Bow Wow (a cookies & cream donut featuring vanilla glaze and crumbled dog treats).

As the brand seeks to “reverse gentrify,” Faulcon and the company’s Brooklyn Heights shop operator, Zewiditu Ruffin, chose to open shops in predominantly white areas. Their unique business model has already shown immense success with long lines out the door and posts about the mouthwatering vegan donuts on social media.
