Rhode Island VegFest, the crown jewel of vegan festivals in the Ocean State, is gearing up for its annual extravaganza at the WaterFire Arts Center. This two-day celebration, slated for Saturday, February 3 and Sunday, February 4, 2024, promises a vibrant showcase of plant-based foods, drinks, artistry, and businesses.

Diverse Delights Await

A stellar lineup of over 85 local and national vegan and vegan-friendly brands from Rhode Island and beyond will grace the festival. From Plant City and PiANTA Vegan Restaurant to Basil & Bunny and Nourish Vegan Artisan Cheese, the vendors span 10 states, offering a smorgasbord of cruelty-free options. Stay tuned to the RI VegFest website and their Instagram for weekly vendor announcements.

“As a vegan of over 25 years, I am excited to see vegan options become more widely available in Rhode Island and around the country,” said RI VegFest’s founder, Robin Dionne. “We are looking forward to our fourth annual RI VegFest, where food lovers of all backgrounds can eat, shop, and learn from local favorites and some exciting new businesses. Rhode Island’s favorite vegan and vegan-friendly businesses will be popping up for the weekend, along with tons of new vendors, and businesses from as far away as Los Angeles!”

Sustainability Takes Center Stage

In a bid to minimize environmental impact, RI VegFest has partnered with local compost processor Bootstrap Compost. Together, they strive to divert a significant amount of waste from landfills, transforming it into nutrient-rich soil. The event is committed to using fully compostable products, with past collaborations boasting a staggering 95% reduction in landfill waste.

“Events of this size can generate a surprising amount of waste, and we’re focused on making our events as sustainable as possible,” said Dionne. “At our previous events, Bootstrap Compost has helped us reduce our landfill waste by an incredible 95%. We know that this partnership will help us do the same in February.”
