Expect nothing but fun laughs and good times at this plant-powered comedy show!
A live comedy show featuring all-vegan comics? Anything is possible in Los Angeles! If you’re looking for something to do next weekend, Comedy For The Animals will host its second-ever vegan comedy show in LA featuring Tig Notaro. And a portion of the proceeds benefit Vegan Outreach!
Mission-Driven Live Comedy Show in LA Featuring Vegan Standup Comedians
Comedy For The Animals is the brainchild of creatives Scott Seven and Michael Raley. The duo works together to curate mission-driven live comedy shows in LA featuring all-vegan standup comedians.
Seven told VegOut, “Comedy For The Animals exists to be a community-building and animal rights activism-supporting brand. To that end, we donate a portion of each show’s profits to a different charity. We don’t select the charities ourselves. That choice is given exclusively to the headliner of each show. We are proud that we pay all our performers, but our headliners can definitely make more money on tour than from what we can afford to pay them. Our headliners do the show because they love the animals, believe in supporting animal rights activists, and have a charity they care about that they select for that show.”
The first Comedy For The Animals show took place on November 28 at Dynasty Typewriter in Westlake. Seven and Raley hosted, while plant-based comedians Myq Kaplan, April Walterscheid, and Ash T performed standup routines.
Vegan Comedian Tig Notaro
After a short holiday hiatus, Comedy For The Animals is back in action. Their second show features the oh-so-popular vegan comedian Tig Notaro with sets by Peyton McCormick and Steven Marcus Releford.
If you’re not already fangirling over Tig Notaro, let us help you out. The Queer vegan comedian, actor, and writer holds both Emmy and Grammy nominations, as well as the title of the 50 Best Stand-Up Comics of All Time by Rolling Stone. You’ve probably seen one of Notaro’s many specials on Netflix or HBO, or maybe you’ve spotted her in mainstream TV shows, talk shows, and movies (anyone watch Netflix’s new flick Your Place or Mine?). And now, Notaro is taking to a local LA stage to show off her comedy chops for a good cause! What’s not to love?
Comedy For The Animals Presents Tig Notaro
Comedy For The Animals Presents Tig Notaro takes place next Sunday, March 12 at 2pm at Dynasty Typewriter. Tickets are available online now, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit Sacramento-based nonprofit Vegan Outreach.
If you can’t make it to this show, or don’t live in LA, keep an eye out for future Comedy For The Animals shows. “We plan to produce four or five CFTA shows each year here in Los Angeles, additionally producing regular non-CFTA shows also. The big picture goal is to expand and produce annual CFTA shows in other cities across the US and Canada,” shared Seven.
