Enjoy a day of great food, giveaways, and presentations from leading speakers in the vegan movement!

Consider this your “save the date!” Black VegFest returns with their Spread Love 2, an “Unapologetically Black Vegan Festival.” This free indoor and outdoor event will focus on Black liberation, animal welfare, healthier living, and a better planet.

Black VegFest to Hold Spread Love 2 Vegan Festival

You’ll want to bring the whole family to Black VegFest’s Spread Love 2 vegan festival. Over 75 vegan chefs and cooks will provide top vegan eats while leading speakers (such as Dr. Milton Mills!) take the floor. You’ll also find panel discussions on Black food cooperatives, animal liberation, and more. Join one of the many workshops—Raw Food Healing, Vegan Weightlifting Fitness, and food demonstrations, for starters. And be sure to sign up the kids for Children’s Planting & Pot Painting! Grab your swag bag (with products from your favorite vegan brands!), enjoy musical performances, and join in on games for the whole family.

“At Black VegFest, we are engaging with our people, bringing them in and sharing and learning with each other,” said Francis Peña, an organizer with Black VegFest. “This is our power. And we want us, our people, to have that power and take it wherever it
needs to go.”

Black Vegan Festival Grounded in Intersectionality

Black VegFest was founded by Omowale Adewale who, like other Black vegans, found
himself not reflected in mostly white vegan festivals and spaces. The event took root as Adewale felt called to elevate and provide space for Black vegan artists, chefs, performers, thinkers, and organizers.

Grounded in intersectionality, the organization highlights Black vegan vendors, artists, educators, activists, and community organizers. They support both new and veteran vegans and pay homage to Black August—a month dedicated to honoring freedom fighters and the collective movement against oppression.

Spread Love 2 is for all people committed to Black liberation, who are interested in learning more about veganism and justice.

Black VegFest will hold Spread Love 2 on Saturday, August 12 at the Weeksville Heritage Center in Brooklyn, New York. The event runs from 12-7pm. To stay updated and to learn more about this “Unapologetically Black Vegan Festival,” visit BlackVegFest.org.

And be sure to get there early—the first 500 attendees will receive a copy of the July issue of VegOut Magazine and a limited-edition Black VegFest x VegOut tote bag!
