Vegan coffee shop Superbloom is now open at San Diego’s Mission Bay Beach Club, formerly known as the Mission Bay Visitors Information Center. Customers can choose from hot and cold beverages, as well as pastries, savory entrees, and ice cream sandwiches.
The Mission Bay Beach Club
The Mission Bay Beach Club is one of the most iconic structures in San Diego. With a seashell-shaped structure, funky roof design, and positioning right on Mission Bay, this place catches the attention of those who pass by. It was originally built in 1969 as a communal gathering space for locals and visitors alike but by 2010, the spot was decommissioned and became vacant.
This year, the building was modernized by Bradley Schnell of Playground Design and Kristine Overacre of Beaucoup Creative in partnership with the City of San Diego and the Mission Bay Parks Department. It is now a waterfront restaurant and event center that houses a bike rental shop, beach boutique, and the all-vegan coffee shop, Superbloom. Sometime within the next year, wood-fired pizzeria and wine bar, Picnic, will open on the bay-facing side of the building.

Superbloom is now open for business with an array of offerings that include vegan coffee, cold-pressed juice, savory dishes, pastries, and desserts. The hot and cold coffee beverages, made with beans from local roaster Mostra, can be infused with flavored syrups and oat milk to your liking. As for the food, this trendy cafe stocks vegan scones, croissants, and oat milk ice cream sandwiches from Split Bakehouse as well as salads, bowls, and other savory entrees from Urban Remedy. Superbloom is the ultimate stop for vegan coffee, meals, and treats in San Diego!
