Starbucks will eliminate the extra charge for non-dairy milk at US and Canada stores starting November 7, coinciding with the launch of its holiday menu.
Get ready to sip your Starbucks favorites without the surcharge! Beginning November 7, Starbucks will no longer charge extra for non-dairy milk customizations at company-owned stores across the US and Canada. This change coincides with the release of their much-anticipated holiday menu, making the news even sweeter for plant-based fans.
Customize Without the Extra Cost
Starting November 7, you can opt for soy milk, oat milk, almond milk, or coconut milk in your beverage at no additional charge. This move reflects Starbucks’ goal to offer a more inclusive coffeehouse experience. Brian Niccol, Starbucks chairman and chief executive officer, said, “Core to the Starbucks Experience is the ability to customize your beverage to make it yours. By removing the extra charge for non-dairy milks, we’re embracing all the ways our customers enjoy their Starbucks.”
Non-dairy milk customizations are the second most popular request at Starbucks, just behind extra espresso shots. With this update, nearly half of US customers who currently pay extra to modify their drinks will see a price reduction of more than 10%.
A Shift Toward Customer-Focused Changes
The elimination of non-dairy surcharges is part of Starbucks’ broader strategy to enhance customer experience. Niccol continued, “I made a commitment that we’d get back to Starbucks, focusing on what has always set Starbucks apart—a welcoming coffeehouse where people gather and we serve the finest coffee handcrafted by our skilled baristas. This is just one of many changes we’ll make to ensure a visit to Starbucks is worth it every time.”
This shift not only aligns with growing demand for plant-based options but also makes sustainable choices more accessible. Whether it’s a classic latte with oat milk or a festive holiday drink made with almond milk, Starbucks is ready to serve your favorites—without the extra fee—starting November 7.
