Catch Indira Cristin of Bettersweet Vegan Bakery on The Big Bake Halloween!
Are baking competition shows your guilty pleasure? Then mark your calendars and get ready to root for Indira Cristin on The Big Bake Halloween! This Latina vegan baker competes on the Halloween-themed baking competition show next week.
Indira Cristin of Bettersweet Vegan Bakery in Miami
Venezuelan-born Indira Cristin opened Bettersweet Vegan Bakery in Miami eight years ago. Cristin’s skills in baking, decorating, and painting shine through in every custom cake, cake pop, and cookie offered at her bakery. This is why she’s such a great fit to put her skills to the test on The Big Bake.
First Vegan Cake on the Big Bake
The Big Bake is a baking competition show where teams of baking professionals design, bake, and decorate a holiday-themed cake of epic proportions in just five hours. The team with the most ambitious and delicious cake, as voted by three judges, wins a $10,000 grand prize.
For the competition, Indira Cristin teamed up with Megan Savely of Frost Me Sweet and Ramon Camacho of Bubu’s Cake. Although Cristin’s team members are not vegan, they created an all-vegan spooky doll-themed cake. This marks the first vegan cake made on The Big Bake.
“I was the only vegan baker participating. The cake made in that episode was a vegan recipe that I created and got great reviews. It’s not very common to see Latinos in these types of competitions and even more to see vegan recipes in a non-vegan contest,” shared Cristin.
Season Four, Episode Four of The Big Bake
Cristin competes in season four, episode four of The Big Bake titled “Halloween: Diabolical Dolls” hosted by Brad Smith, featuring judges Ron Ben-Israel, Eddie Jackson, and Danni Rose. The episode debuts on Monday, October 16 at 8pm PDT on Food Network.
