The plant-based fried chicken is in partnership with Beyond Meat and will be available nationwide for a limited time.
Plant-based fried chicken at KFC is back! The popular fast-food chain is bringing back its Beyond Fried Chicken to stores nationwide beginning January 10.
Beyond Fried Chicken Available Nationwide
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen plant-based fried chicken at KFC, but it is the first time that KFCs across the US will be participating, making it easier than ever for consumers in every state to try the newly reformulated Beyond Fried Chicken. The plant-based chicken is available for a limited time and while supplies last, so be sure to check with your preferred location before heading out to give it a go.
The Beyond Fried Chicken was developed by Beyond Meat exclusively for KFC and mimics the flavor and crunchiness of the brand’s famous traditional recipe.
The Beyond Fried Chicken is served with your choice of dipping sauce (ketchup is currently the only vegan sauce option) and can be ordered in 6 or 12 pieces. Prices start at $6.99 and will vary by location. The Beyond Fried Chicken will also be available as part of KFC’s first-ever plant-based combo meal, which will come with a medium drink and KFC’s iconic Secret Recipe Fries (yes, they’re vegan!).
*Please note that the Beyond Fried Chicken is cooked in the same oil as the traditional fried chicken.*
KFC’s Beyond Fried Chicken 3.0
In August of 2019, KFC became the first US quick-service restaurant to sell plant-based chicken when it launched a limited-run test of Beyond Fried Chicken in Atlanta. The Atlanta test store completely sold out of the plant-based chicken in less than five hours, a compelling sign that led KFC to bring back the Beyond Fried Chicken in 2020 to select restaurants in Nashville, Charlotte, and Southern California. This release was also incredibly popular, and the restaurants in Southern California sold out in less than a week.
This newest release marks the third time that KFC has reformulated the plant-based chicken recipe, and the nationwide release suggests that this Beyond Fried Chicken 3.0 is the best version yet. Here’s to hoping it becomes a permanent menu item in 2022!
