Since its inception in 2019, Kate’s Ice Cream has been revolutionizing the ice cream experience for those with dietary restrictions. The shop quickly became a staple in Portland’s vibrant food scene, winning numerous accolades. These include the Top Ice Cream Shop Winner 2023 by Portland Monthly, 3rd Place for Best Vegan Ice Cream Shop in America by VegNews, and 2nd Place for the National Award with their Salted Peanut Butter Brittle ice cream from the North American Ice Cream Association.

Inspired by Inclusivity
Founder and Recipe Creator Katelyn Williams was driven by a personal mission inspired by her sister, who couldn’t have dairy. Williams wanted to create an ice cream shop where everyone could enjoy classic flavors without dietary concerns. Williams said, “My mission is to create inclusive experiences through plant-based and gluten-free ice cream so that everyone is able to have the classic ice cream shop experience that many grew up with. So many have been excluded from this experience due to dietary restriction, allergy, or preference. Kate’s is all about creating a space everyone can enjoy.”
