A Passion for Cooking: The Journey Begins
Born and raised in Chicago, James Bloodsaw Jr. discovered his passion for cooking at the age of 17 while working at Reggio’s Pizza. Little did he know that this humble beginning would pave the way for a remarkable culinary journey. James reminisces about his career progression in the food industry, which eventually led him to his groundbreaking venture, JustVeggiez.
A Rise in the Ranks: From Chef to Entrepreneur
After his time at Reggio’s, James joined Upstairs Downstairs Catering in 1996. Over the years, his hard work and dedication paid off, propelling him to the position of Executive Chef. However, it was a heartfelt conversation with his late father, James Bloodsaw Sr., during the winter of 2012 that sparked a profound change in James Jr.’s life.
Inspired by Health: A New Beginning
During their conversation, James Sr. shared personal health concerns, prompting James Jr. to reevaluate his own lifestyle choices. Motivated to make a difference, he embarked on a personal journey toward a healthier way of living. In 2018, armed with 30 years of culinary and catering experience, James decided to share his newfound passion for a healthier diet with others by founding JustVeggiez—a comprehensive catering, restaurant, and vendor service that specializes in plant-based vegan cuisine.
JustVeggiez opens its doors at 12pm on July 1 at 540 State Street, Madison, WI, 53703.
