If you live in Detroit and you like spaghetti, then you’ll love this news! Eminem’s Mom’s Spaghetti restaurant is now open and there’s a vegan option. No, this is not a drill—the famous rapper now owns a restaurant named after a lyric from his most famous song. How epic is that?

Mom’s Spaghetti Pop-Up in Detroit

The first time you listened to “Lose Yourself” by Eminem, you were probably confused by the line, “His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy. There’s vomit on his sweater already, mom’s spaghetti.” No one really knows what the based rapper meant by “mom’s spaghetti” but it became a popular lyric and now, the name of a business.

Mom’s Spaghetti first launched in 2017 as a pop-up at The Shelter in Detroit in partnership with Union Joints Restaurant Group. But due to the amazing turnout, the Mom’s Spaghetti pop-up, which started as a fun promo for the release of Eminem’s album, Revival, turned into a viable business venture.

“We’ve had a lot of fun putting this project together with the folks at Union Joints, and the response from fans has been overwhelmingly positive. The previous pop-ups were really a test for us to determine whether there was enthusiasm for a regularly occurring Mom’s Spaghetti spot that would be open all year long,” said Paul Rosenberg, Eminem’s manager.

Mom’s Spaghetti Opened as a Brick-And-Mortar

This past Wednesday, Mom’s Spaghetti opened as a brick-and-mortar at 2131 Woodward Ave, Detroit, MI 48201, across from Comerica Park. It’s a small bodega style-restaurant where orders are placed at a walk-up window in the alley. A few seats are available inside the compact dining area. Above the pasta operation, there’s a retail space called The Trailer where fans can purchase Mom’s Spaghetti and Eminem-themed merch as well as memorabilia from Eminem’s archives. Unannounced, Eminem made an appearance at Mom’s Spaghetti for opening night, where he served pasta to excited customers and even posed for photos.

“The opportunity to build a permanent location based on an incredible meta-reference was one that everyone at Union Joints, as a Metro Detroit restaurant group, took very seriously. We’re proud of the fact that we created a scratch sauce that tastes like it’s straight from the jar, and wok-firing the noodles gives it that leftover pasta snap,” shared Union Joints Restaurant Group co-owner, Curt Catallo.

Affordable Vegan Options at Mom’s Spaghetti

While the menu isn’t fully vegan, there are two affordable vegan options available at Mom’s Spaghetti. First is the namesake menu item, Mom’s Spaghetti, a heaping pile of pasta with marinara sauce that’s just $9. The second vegan option is Mom’s Spaghetti with Rabbit Balls, the restaurant’s plant-based take on spaghetti and meatballs named after Eminem’s character in 8 Mile. That dish comes in at $14.
