Chipotle Launches Plant-Based Chorizo
You can now add the new vegan protein to your Chipotle order at participating US locations.
This week, Chipotle launches plant-based Chorizo at participating locations across the US The addition of plant-based chorizo comes after a successful test run in Denver and Indianapolis in August 2021, and the new option will be available to add to any order for a limited time beginning on January 3.
“We are thrilled to introduce guests to our new, flavor-packed Plant-Based Chorizo during a season when healthier options are top of mind,” Chris Brandt, Chief Marketing Officer at Chipotle, told VegOut. “Plant-Based Chorizo is our best chorizo ever and proves that you don’t have to sacrifice flavor to enjoy a vegan or vegetarian protein.”
Chipotle’s Flavor-Forward Plant-Based Chorizo
Chipotle’s flavor-forward plant-based chorizo features a rich flavor and combines chipotle peppers, ripe tomato paste, crushed garlic, Spanish smoked paprika, and extra virgin olive oil with natural protein from freshly grown peas. The chorizo is also certified vegan, packed with 16g protein per 4oz serving, and is made without artificial flavors, colors, preservatives, grains, gluten, or soy.
“Our culinary team has worked relentlessly for years to develop this breakthrough plant-based chorizo recipe that is uniquely Chipotle and aligns with the brand’s industry-leading Food with Integrity standards,” Nevielle Panthaky, Vice President of Culinary at Chipotle, told VegOut.
Chipotle’s New Lifestyle Bowls
The plant-based chorizo is featured in Chipotle’s new Lifestyle Bowls, which are designed to make healthy eating habits easy and accessible. Vegan-friendly bowl options include the Whole30 Salad Bowl (supergreens lettuce blend, plant-based chorizo, fresh tomato salsa, fajita veggies, and guacamole) and the Vegan Bowl (white rice, black beans, plant-based chorizo, corn salsa, fresh tomato salsa, and shredded romaine lettuce).
