The popular vegetarian restaurant opened in the Gold Coast neighborhood of Chicago on October 17.
Can’t Believe It’s Not Meat has been a staple for Chicago vegans for the past few years. Catering to a crowd of flexitarians, vegetarians, and vegans alike, the restaurant has developed a loyal following at its first two locations. And on Sunday, October 17, Can’t Believe It’s Not Meat opened their third Chicago location!
New Vegan-Friendly Restaurant in Chicago
Can’t Believe It’s Not Meat’s newest location is just a few blocks from Lake Michigan, on the border of the Gold Coast and Old Town neighborhoods of Chicago. The fully vegetarian restaurant will be open from 11am-9pm every day, with extended hours until 11pm on Saturdays. This location will eventually offer the same menu items as the other two locations, but is currently operating with a smaller menu. Their iconic pizzas and toasted subs will be added to the menu next month.
The restaurant is currently offering a lunch special of BOGO hot dogs from 11am-2pm daily. You can order for pickup directly on their website, or use UberEats or Grubhub for local delivery. Check them out at 1143 N Wells St, Chicago, IL 60610.
Vegan Comfort Food in Chicago
The food at Can’t Believe It’s Not Meat is full of veganized comfort classics. While the restaurant does carry dairy cheese, every menu item can be made vegan by requesting plant-based cheese. On the menu, you’ll find everything from loaded bratwursts and nachos to chick’n wings and lasagna.
One of their most popular items is the Big Mik: a veggie version of a Big Mac. Made with two vegan patties, house-made special sauce, pickles, lettuce, and cheese (choose vegan cheese to make the whole burger vegan), this burger has gained the restaurant a loyal following far and wide. In fact, even Beyonce has included them in her directory of Black-owned businesses to support!
