The Bronx Brewery has opened a second location in NYC’s East Village complete with vegan burgers, beers, and more!

A new brewery is serving vegan-friendly brews and plant-based burgers in the East Village. Known as the “South Bronx beer favorite,” The Bronx Brewery has opened a new pilot brewery, taproom, and kitchen in the heart of NYC’s East Village. The opening also marks the first US location of Sweden-based burger brand, Bastard Burgers, which is handling the food menu.

The History Behind Bronx Brewery

The history behind Bronx Brewery began in 2011 when Damian Brown and Chris Gallant founded the original South Bronx location, with a mission to create a space for everyone to gather around good food and great beer. The brewery aims to replicate the same diverse atmosphere at the new East Village location, with outdoor events in the backyard, charitable initiatives, and of course, tasty beer and food.

“We believe beer has the power to bring people together and that it can be a platform for showcasing the creativity and diversity of our community,” Brown told VegOut. “Our new East Village location is another step towards moving beyond the beer itself and inspiring a different and more inclusive approach in the industry.”

The ceiling and rear wall of the East Village space is decorated with a mural from Bronx artist Andre Trenier, who also painted the iconic mural at their Bronx location and who frequently contributes can art to the brewery. Renowned graffiti artists CES and CHINO also tagged the bathrooms.

Vegan Options at Bronx Brewery East Village

The partnership between Bastard Burgers and the Bronx Brewery team was developed through the companies’ innovative culture and their mutual love and respect for street art and hip hop. Through their flexible approach to food, Bastard Burgers has created a food menu for the East Village location that will feature a variety of burgers, sides, and sauces, all of which can be made vegan upon request. Patrons can enjoy items such as The Bastard Burger, which features a smashed Beyond Meat patty, dill pickles, double cheddar, vegan mayonnaise, mustard, ketchup, and yellow onion. Vegan versions of sides like loaded fries, mozzarella sticks, mac ‘n’ cheese bites, and a selection of vegan dips will also be available.

In addition, all of the beers served at the brewery are 100% vegan, including the Big City Bastard—an IPA that was inspired by the Bastard Burgers and Bronx Brewery partnership—and will be available on tap regularly at the East Village location.

The Bronx Brewery East Village is located at 64 2nd Avenue, New York, New York 10003. The brewery is open Monday-Thursday 5-11pm, Friday 5pm-12am, Saturday 12pm-12am, and Sunday 12-9pm. For all of the latest updates, visit TheBronxBrewery.com.
