Cafe Gratitude

Arts District, Larchmont, and Venice

Cafe Gratitude has tons of options on their kids’ menu, so kids can join in ordering with their own affirmations just like the grown-ups. The “Adorable” (Almond Butter Banana Wrap), “Cheesy” (Mac & Cheese), “Jolly” (Cheese Pizza), “Playful” (Cheese Quesadilla), and “Fun” (Marinara Pasta) are available for lunch and dinner. The “Berry-Sweet” (French Toast Dippers) and “Cute” (Buckwheat Pancake) make a menu appearance during breakfast hours. Kid-sized drink options include Tree Nut Milk (housemade sprouted almond milk or coconut milk) and Pressed Juice (apple or orange).

Flower Child

Del Mar, Newport Beach, Santa Monica

While not entirely vegan, Flower Child has a lot of great vegan options throughout their whole menu, including on their kids menu. Kids can opt for their “Pick a Protein + 2 Sides” option, where the vegan choices would be their Tofu, plus two sides of Organic Brown Rice and their Pineapple, Clementine, Organic Apple & Strawberry mix.

Hinterhof

Highland Park

“For the Kinder” at Hinterhof, they offer a kid’s size of their main dishes—Wienerschnitzel, Jägerschnitzel, Bratwurst, Currywurst, Maultaschen, Flammkuchen of the Day, Bratlinge (GF), or Käsespätzle—along with choice of side. Sides include Fries, Potato Salad, Sauerkraut (GF), Red Cabbage (GF), German Bread basket w/ butter, or Salad (GF). They also offer a similar option for kids during brunch—choice of silver dollar pancakes, one piece french toast, half waffle, or “The Little Ami,” a kid’s size of The American (eggy tofu scramble, housemade bratwurst, potato pancake, and toast).

Kitchen Mouse

Kitchen Mouse is a vegetarian, but mostly-vegan cafe, known for serving breakfast all day. Most of their menu is vegan with the exception of those with obvious inclusion of egg—although most can be made with tofu scramble instead. For kids, they have three options. The first is their Silver Dollar Special (nut-free), which includes three silver dollar-sized pancakes plus your choice of two sides: scrambled egg (obviously, avoid), tofu scramble, avocado, toast, fruit, tempeh, or sausage. The second is their Mac N Cheese (soy-free). The third is their Grilled Cheese (soy-free and nut-free).

Monty’s Good Burger

Echo Park, Koreatown, Riverside

This all-vegan fast food spot known for its Impossible burgers and shakes may have a sweet and simple menu, but they made sure to have the kids covered too. Their kids’ meal option is Grilled Cheese plus a side of Fries or Tots with choice of any one dipping sauce (sriracha aioli, ranch, house spread, onion aioli, or habenero).

Native Foods

Westwood and Costa Mesa

At all-vegan Native Foods, their kids menu choices include their Truffle Mac & Cheese (gluten-free and nut-free) or their Chicken Strips (nut-free)—each of which are served with choice of organic brown rice, steamed veggies, or seasoned fries—or their Lil’ Buddha Bowl, which consists of teriyaki sweet potatoes, avocado, fresh pineapple, roasted corn, and cilantro jasmine rice, with a side of seasoned fries. Each kids meal also includes a kid-size drink (choose from their Lavender Lemonade, Watermelon Fresca, and Assorted Organic, Sugar-Free Iced Teas).

Plant Power Fast Food

Long Beach and Redlands

This 100% plant-based fast food joint has a ton of classics made vegan—from burgers and fries to shakes and sodas, plus chicken tenders, fish fillet sandwiches, and more. And they didn’t leave the kids out of all that fun! Kids Combo options include the Kids ‘Cheeseburger’ (GFO) and the Kids ‘Chicken Nuggets’ (8-piece). Each combo comes with fries or a side salad plus a drink.

Sage Plant Based Bistro

Culver City, Echo Park, and Pasadena

Plant-based restaurant Sage offers nine options for lunch and dinner from the kids menu—Grilled Cheese Sandwich, Rosemary Sourdough Toast (with Earth Balance and avocado), Mac & Cheese with Kale, Quesadilla, Kid’s Burrito (with rice, beans, and Daiya cheese), Pasta with Marinara, Pasta with Earth Balance & Nutritional Yeast, Rice & Beans with Corn Tortilla, and their Side of Veggies with Himalayan crystal salt and Earth Balance. For brunch, they offer most of the same options plus their 3 Kid’s Blueberry Pancakes, 3 Kid’s Sweet Potato Pancakes, and Kid’s Chia French Toast. As an added bonus, a lot of the items are soy-free and/or gluten-free or can be easily modified to be.

Vibe Organic Kitchen & Juice

Dana Point and Newport Beach

Vibe is the perfect spot for health-focused all-vegan fare that’s also completely gluten-free and soy-free. Kids menu options include the Almond-Butter & Jam Toast, Avocado Toast, Kids Rice Bowl, Hummus & Veggie Bowl, Bean & Cheese Quesadilla, and their Kids Smoothie option.

Veggie Grill

Vegan chain Veggie Grill allows kids to assemble their own meal by choosing one of each: main, side, and dessert. For mains, they offer Chickin’ Nuggets, Kid’s Burger, Grilled Cheese, Mac-n-Cheese, and Crispy Cauliflower. For sides, they offer Crispy Fries (GF), Sweet Potato Fries (GF), Cauli-Mashed Potatoes, Carrot Sticks (GF), and Steamin’ Kale (GF). For dessert, the three options are 1/2 Slice Carrot Cake, Cookies, and Mandarin Oranges.
