Drake Invests in Plant-Based Chicken Brand Daring Foods

Entertainer and Canadian rapper, Drake, just became an investor of the up-and-coming vegan chicken brand, Daring Foods. As part of the Series B round of funding, Drake’s investment will allow the company to expand its retail reach to 4,500 US stores by the end of the year. Currently, Daring can be found in select Sprouts, Kroger, and Costco locations.

Daring is a frozen plant-based chicken product that comes in several varieties—Original, Lemon & Herb, Cajun, and Original Breaded. The soy-based bites of chicken are all grilled and served naked with the exception of the breaded pieces.

Drake has yet to formally announce he is vegan, but several social media posts

allude to his plant-based commitment. This recent investment leads many to believe he’s still honoring his words when he exclaimed in a 2018 live Twitch stream that he doesn’t eat meat anymore.

“I was immediately drawn to the Daring team’s mission to transform how we eat, and I am excited to invest in and support a product I enjoy,” Drake said.

The music artist joins the countless celebrities investing in vegan meat for the future. Both Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods can list off several celebrity investors from Leonardo DiCaprio to Bill Gates. Fueled by these celebrity dollars, each company is continually striving to create the most authentic, meaty products to curtail animal consumption now and for generations to come.
