Grab your morning espresso and a snack or two at Brooklyn’s newest plant-based concept!
This month, Greenpot—a women-owned vegan cafe and grocery store—opened in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. The plant-based concept was developed by sisters Magda and Anna, who decided to transition to a vegan diet after moving to New York City in 2005.
North Brooklyn’s Vegan Scene
As North Brooklyn’s vegan scene has grown over the past 16 years, Magda and Anna felt it was time to open a vegan business of their own.
“We spent quite some time working as baristas and in retail. We were inspired by the growing vegan industry and variety of vegan products. Since we love coffee and are passionate about animal rights and being vegan, we decided to open GreenPot, a vegan cafe with food and groceries,” Anna told VegOut.
Brooklyn Roasting Coffee and Espresso
The Greenpot coffee menu features Brooklyn roasting coffee and espresso, which can be accompanied by a splash of oat milk as a creamer. The food menu includes Raspberry Thumbprint Cookies, Carrot Walnut Muffins, and Cheddar & Kale Scones from local bakeries such as Sensible Edibles, and a variety of focaccia breads from Sullivan Street Bakery. Guests can also enjoy sandwiches from the deli counter, as well as egg-free salad, Violife cheese, vegan meats, frozen pizzas, and ready-to-eat meals from the fridge and freezer section of the shop.
“We have pastries from Sensible Edibles, croissants from Choc o Pain, and breads from Sullivan Street Bakery. We make our sandwiches on sesame and plain crucolo rolls, and also Choc o pain’s pain de mie rolls,” Anna said.
In addition, Greenpot offers treats such as V-Dog Wigglebiscuits for the fur babies.
Greenpot is located at 86 Greenpoint Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11222. Follow them on Instagram at @greenpotplantbased for all of the latest updates from the shop!
