The Black woman-owned brand is now selling its vegan and allergy-friendly snacks at Walmart retailers and on Walmart.com.

This month, Partake Foods launches at Walmart stores nationwide. The Black-owned brand was founded in 2016 by Denise Woodard, whose daughter had been recently diagnosed with multiple food allergies.

In 2021, Partake received backing from Rhianna, H.E.R., and Jay Z’s capital fund Marcy Venture Partners, totaling $4.8 million in funding. With solid investors and the goal of making safe foods accessible to all, the brand’s debut at Walmart stores marks another success in its six-year history.

Providing More Accessibility to Allergy-Friendly Snacks

Woodard wanted to create a product that would provide more accessibility to allergy-friendly snacks, which is why all Partake cookies and mixes are free of the top nine allergens, including wheat, tree nuts, peanuts, milk, eggs, soy, fish, sesame, and shellfish.

Walmart shoppers can purchase the brand’s crunchy cookies in four delicious flavors, such as chocolate chip, gingersnap, and birthday cake, or go with the chewy soft-baked chocolate chip instead. All of the cookies retail for $3.98 per box, and all of Partake’s products are vegan and gluten-free.

“We are excited to bring Partake to Walmart stores in 47 states, contributing to our 2022 goal of making our better-for-you, allergy-friendly cookies accessible to new towns and cities coast-to-coast,” Woodard told VegOut.

In addition to cookies, Partake also offers a variety of baking mixes and breakfast mixes, like brownie mix, pizza crust mix, and pancake & waffle mix.

A Champion for Food Inclusivity

As a champion for food inclusivity, Partake works to supply allergy-friendly meals to food-insecure families. The brand partners with organizations like No Kid Hungry to provide families access not only to food but also to education and advocacy.

Additionally, in 2020 Woodard founded Black Futures in Food & Beverage, a yearly fellowship program that mentors HBCU students and helps them secure jobs and internships upon completion of the program.

Where to Purchase Partake

Partake’s products are now available at Walmart stores and on Walmart.com. The brand’s cookies and mixes can also be found in more than 8,000 stores nationwide, including Trader Joe’s, Kroger, Whole Foods, and Target.
