A new vegan bakery is serving up sweets in New Jersey. This past January, Vegan Pastry Lab made its debut in the city of Englewood, just across the river from NYC. The owners, Eli Muniz and pastry chef Cris Longoria, opened the bakery as a way to share their love of plant-based sweets with the community.
“After years of meticulous planning, we are proud and excited to be able to share our love for vegan/plant-based pastries with our local community here in New Jersey! We took our deep commitment to animal welfare and the environment and manifested a place where like-minded people can indulge in the pleasure of fine baked goods, while knowing we share the same ethical concerns.” Muniz and Longoria told VegOut.
Englewood’s First Full-Service Vegan Bakery
Vegan Pastry Lab operates as Englewood’s first full-service vegan bakery, and offers freshly baked muffins, cookies, brownies, cinnamon rolls, Danishes, donuts, cupcakes, specialty made-to-order cakes, gluten-free options, and more, with breakfast and lunch dishes set to roll out before spring.
We got a glimpse of the bakery’s current offerings on their Instagram, @veganpastrylab, which includes raspberry pop pastries, gluten-free chocolate peanut butter blondies, jet black cream cheese brownies, gluten-free black & white cookies, chocolate babka, chocolate sprinkle donuts, and blueberry cheesecake. In addition, guests can shop for lifestyle items and gifts, such as plants, locally handmade candles, and greeting cards.
