New Black-Owned Vegan Food Truck Hits the Streets of Florence, South Carolina
This café on wheels is bringing vegan burgers, sandwiches, and more to Florence, SC!
Markeyshi K’Patrick opened Eliza’s Vegan Cafe Food Truck (named after her late grandmother, Ms. Eliza Jenkins) on Tuesday, April 6. K’Patrick has been vegan since January 1, 2001, and is now bringing plant-based eats to the community in Florence, SC through her café-on-wheels.
“The point of my food truck is to veganize comfort foods people are accustomed to eating. It’s more important to capture their attention, educate them, then slowly raise their consciousness. No one starts out disciplined. We must meet people where they are!” K’Patrick told VegOut.
Eliza’s Vegan Food Truck offers veganized versions of Ms. Jenkins’s popular dishes, including the Sweet Lorraine (oxtail stew, peas & rice, and string beans) as well as sandwiches such as the classic chicken sandwich, veggie pita, and bacon cheeseburgers. The café uses mostly organic fruits and vegetables in their dishes, and purchases locally when possible.
The food truck is open for breakfast on Saturdays only from 6-10am, as well as for lunch and dinner daily from 11am-5pm. For more information on where the truck will be located, check out their Facebook page, or visit ElizasVegan.com.
