LA’s All-Vegan German Restaurant, Hinterhof, Permanently Closes
It’s time to say Tschüss (goodbye) to LA’s first all-vegan German restaurant, Hinterhof. *Sigh*
Hinterhof first opened in Highland Park back in 2019. Their menu showcased the veganized renditions of some of the most popular German dishes and drinks like Jägerschnitzel, Bratwurst, Spätzle, Pretzels, Potato Pancakes, Strudel, and brews for days. But sadly, after serving vegan and veg-curious Angelenos for over two years, Hinterhof has decided to permanently close due to the struggles of operating a restaurant during the pandemic.
“We know that you will miss Hinterhof and we will, without a doubt, miss it as well. To say that this was a difficult decision for us is an understatement. We’ve navigated through a lot of challenges and the desire to reopen and carry on was a very real one. In the end, we feel the time to say goodbye is upon us,” shared co-owners Mattias and Eric.
Before Hinterhof closes for good, the restaurant will be opening one last time as a proper farewell. Stop by this Saturday, May 15 between 3-9pm to say goodbye and eat your feelings in German grub.
Although it is heartbreaking to lose Hinterhof, we hope you can find comfort in knowing the space will be taken over by another vegan restaurant. Be sure to check back in soon for more information!
