Billie Eilish Teams up with Nike to Launch Vegan Air Jordans
The vegan singer recently took to Instagram to announce the debut of her new kicks.
This month, Billie Eilish debuts her very own vegan Air Jordan sneaker collection. The 19-year-old singer and longtime vegan has co-created two Air Jordan silhouette sneakers, each of which are 100% vegan and made with 20% recycled materials.
Air Jordan 15 and Air Jordan 1KO
Eilish’s new kicks are available in two styles: Air Jordan 15 and Air Jordan 1KO. The Air Jordan 15 comes in a neutral taupe hue while the Air Jordan 1KO is a lime green. Both styles feature Eilish’s signature “Blohsh” logo on the tongue of the shoe. The singer debuts her new collection on the heels of megastars like Travis Scott, Drake, and J Balvin, who have also collaborated with Air Jordan in the past.
Nike Continues to Explore Plant-Based Alternatives
Alongside its collaboration with Eilish, Nike continues to explore plant-based alternatives. This June, the brand launched its Happy Pineapple collection, which includes eye-catching versions of iconic styles like the Air Zoom Type, Air Max 90, Air Max 95, and Air Force 1s. The shoes featured in the collection are made with Piñatex, a pineapple-based material that serves as an alternative to leather.
Support + Feed Initiative
Eilish has been vegan since the age of 12 and is now using her celebrity platform to promote veganism, animal rights, and eco-conscious living. During the pandemic, Eilish teamed up with local vegan restaurants through her mother, Maggie Baird’s, Support + Feed initiative, where she fed underserved communities throughout the US. In addition, the star launched a sustainable vegan clothing line at H&M in 2020 and also partnered with actor Woody Harrelson to create a short film that highlights the connection between animal agriculture and the climate crisis.
The Billie Eilish x Air Jordan sneakers will be available to purchase on Eilish’s website, store.billieeilish.com, on September 27 and on the Nike SNKRS app on September 30.
