Get those mimosas flowin’ at these vegan brunch spots nationwide!
The votes are in from our 2021 VegOut Awards—we asked you which were your favorite vegan brunch spots across the country, and you delivered! Whether you’re on the hunt for plant-based chik’n & waffles in the Midwest or in search of a brunch pizza in Los Angeles, these restaurants have just what you need for a tasty vegan brunch experience. Here are the winners for the best vegan brunch nationwide!
Los Angeles, CA
Our first place winner is Sage Plant Based Bistro, which offers a fully vegan brunch menu featuring shareable plates like cauliflower “wings,” zucchini croquettes, and polenta tots. Diners can also choose from both savory and sweet brunch entrées, like wild blueberry pancakes, chia French toast, cornbread jalapeño pancakes, and tempeh sausage florentine. Drink options include mimosas (strawberry, orange, or hibiscus), basil mint mojitos, adult agua fresca (seasonal), house sangria, and Bloody Mollies—cheers!
2. Kale My Name
In second place, we have Kale My Name, which offers a well-rounded brunch menu that features dishes like cauliflower wings & waffles (sweet waffles and savory fried cauliflower wings served with margarine, maple syrup, and buffalo sauce on the side), chocolate chickpea toast (two slices of sourdough toast, chocolate chickpea spread, banana, strawberries, chocolate syrup, powdered sugar, and whipped cream), jackfruit lox (everything bagel, cream cheese, tomato, red onion, jackfruit, and a sprinkle of kale with a side of rosemary potatoes), and classic bites like the breakfast burrito. Pair your brunch with a mimosa, or opt for the breakfast sangria, which is available at all times of the day.
Handlebar comes in third place for best brunch, and with one bite of their vegan chimichangas—we can see why! This vegan-friendly Chicago eatery offers everything from breakfast burritos to vegan country-fried portabella steak, chilaquiles, and a selection of draft beers and cocktails to complete your brunch experience. We recommend the Mary’s Spring Sangria, which blends rose wine spiked grapefruit juice, Campari, and agave nectar with fresh rosemary for a refreshing and light cocktail.
4. Champs Diner
New York, NY
Our fourth place winner is Champs Diner, which offers vegan baked goods and comfort food in a retro diner setting. Feast on brunch dishes like cookie dough pancakes or savory eats like the BEC (vegan bacon, JUST Egg, and cheddar cheese on a kaiser roll). Whether you’re in the mood for a plate of French toast, or you’re craving a Boulder burrito stuffed with tofu scramble, home fries, chorizo, and shredded cheddar, this Brooklyn diner has you covered.
Los Angeles, CA
Coming in fifth is Café Gratitude, which offers a robust plant-based brunch menu with items like lemon blueberry coffee cake, buckwheat flax pancakes, açai superfood bowls, chilaquiles, and spinach and olive quiche, as well as cold-pressed juices, superfood smoothies, coffee, tonics, and tea. Enjoy the breakfast taco plate with a pear, pineapple, and ginger juice, or indulge your sweet tooth with the Tuscan apple cake and a summer lemon iced tea.
Los Angeles, CA
Did someone say pizza for brunch? We’re in! Our sixth place winner—Nic’s On Beverly—offers vegan, wood-fired Detroit-style pizza in original (parmesan, tomato, oregano, and ranch), Italian (Beyond sausage, cippolini onions, and roasted red peppers), Bianco (melted leeks, roasted mushrooms, chives, and black truffle vinaigrette), BBQ chicken, balsamic ricotta, and pepperoni varieties. In addition, classic brunch options like waffles, breakfast sandwiches, and chilaquiles are also available.
Long Beach, CA
Take a walk on the wild side at The Wild Chive, our seventh place winner for best brunch nationwide. Choose from brunch options like Breakfast In Bread (soft-scrambled tofu patty, spicy house breakfast sausage, cheese, crispy bacon, whipped mayo, and baby arugula on a buttery grilled potato bun), chik’n and French toast, and chef beignets to name a few. Pair your brunch with a Valdobbiadene prosecco mimosa (try saying that three times fast!) or a Paloma apple cider.

Add in a side of Louisiana black-eyed peas or beignets to complete your order.
The ninth place winner is Watercourse Foods, which offers a fully vegan brunch menu featuring dishes like stuffed French toast (Challah bread, cream cheese, and strawberry coulis), the Big Rig (country-fried seitan, scrambled tofu, Big Rig gravy, and spicy agave served with a choice of a biscuit or toast), and BBQ pulled jackfruit (jackfruit, pickles, and broccoli slaw on a kaiser roll).
