This small but mighty beverage originates from Spain, where the Cortado’s name, derived from “cortar” (meaning “to cut”), highlights how milk balances the bold espresso flavors. Starbucks’ version features three ristretto shots of Blonde Espresso—a method that extracts a sweeter, richer flavor by using less water and a shorter brewing time.

Steamed oatmilk and warm brown sugar syrup create a velvety, non-dairy sip that’s finished with a dash of cinnamon. Available exclusively in an 8 oz. hot format, this drink is a perfect addition to Starbucks’ classic espresso menu, offering a creamy yet bold experience.

“Espresso is the heart and soul of Starbucks,” said Ricky Gonzalez, who works on the beverage development team. “Our goal was to create a new way for customers to experience espresso from us.”
