The plant-based community is facing another heartbreak as Nomoo Burger in West Hollywood announces its closure. In an Instagram post shared this morning, the beloved vegan burger joint revealed that this weekend will be its last on Melrose Avenue. "We are working on ideas and plans to either move Nomoo to a new location or continue as only a pop-up concept, but sadly this will be the final weekend Nomoo is in operation on Melrose. Monday will be our last day. Thank you for all of your support," the post read.

A Challenging Start and Uncertain Future

Nomoo Burger first opened its doors in early 2020, just as stay-at-home orders were issued during the COVID-19 pandemic. The timing couldn't have been more challenging for a new restaurant, especially one dedicated to plant-based cuisine. Despite the obstacles, Nomoo quickly became a favorite among locals and visitors alike, known for its delicious and innovative vegan burgers. However, the pandemic, rising food costs, and other economic pressures have taken their toll on the restaurant industry, with vegan establishments feeling the strain even more.

Other Los Angeles Vegan Restaurant Closures

Nomoo’s closure follows a concerning trend of vegan restaurants struggling to stay afloat. Seabirds Kitchen recently announced the closure of its Long Beach location, while Kusaki in West LA initially planned to shut down in September, only to later reverse the decision. As the plant-based movement continues to grow, it’s more important than ever to support local vegan eateries. These establishments not only offer delicious alternatives but also play a crucial role in promoting sustainable and compassionate food choices.

If you’re in the area, make sure to stop by Nomoo Burger this weekend for one last bite and show your support for the vegan community.

VegOut launched in 2016 as a plant-based dining voice and has grown into a digital lifestyle publication for conscious living. Our editorial team covers what we eat, how we live, and how we think — from chef-driven recipes and sustainable travel to the psychology of relationships, generational shifts, and emotional resilience. We publish for a readership ranging from committed vegans to the curiously conscious, all united by a philosophy of impact over identity. We’re anti-dogma, pro-progress, and we believe the planet doesn’t need a few people doing conscious living perfectly — it needs millions of people doing it imperfectly.
