Vegan Things to Do in L.A. This Weekend: March 13-15

We search the web for the best vegan things to do in the city, so you don’t have to. Here’s what’s happening this weekend.

Friday, March 13

Vegan Friday Nights in Long Beach

Long Beach

Peruse the array of pop-up vendors outside of Modern Buds while catching up with your Long Beach pals. Enjoy enchiladas from Xonxitas Vegan Mexican Kitchen, a pizza from Sourdough Nation, and spooky Friday the 13th cookies from Baked Vegan Sweets.

Saturday, March 14

Celebrate Pi Day

Multiple Locations

We look forward to this food holiday every year. Dedicate the day to some impressive lattice work on a homemade pie, or take advantage of one of the many offerings from local vegan pizza joints and pie shops. Just a few include discounted slices at The Pie Bar in Long Beach, vegan pie specials at Pop Pie Co in Costa Mesa, and whole pie discounts at Whole Foods.

Vegan Food Tour with Luxe Ride

Kick back as this luxury shuttle service transports you from vegan hotspot to vegan hotspot for a ridiculously delicious curational food experience. Enjoy tapas-style dining and dessert at three vegan eateries—from Pura Vita to Laudree—and end the evening with a goody bag bursting with swag. It’s the perfect date night/birthday present/just-because gift! Tickets are available on Eventbrite.

Cooking Class at SunCafe

Studio City

Chef Ron Russell doesn’t believe in sad salads. Sign up for this weekly cooking class to learn how to build epic, entrée-sized salads. Dishes on the menu include Tempeh Caesar, Taco Salad, and Black Eyed Pea Salad with quinoa, grilled chard, and napa cabbage.

Sunday, March 15

Lento Market Pop-Up at Cocobella Creamery

Hollywood

Find best-selling menu items from this vegan bodega at one of our favorite vegan ice cream shops this Sunday. From 12-5pm, customers can pick up Lento’s deli-style sandwiches—from classic grilled cheese to breakfast bagels. We highly recommend pairing this with an ice cream cookie sandwich from Cocobella.

Intelligentsia Launches Ready-to-Drink Vegan Oat Milk Lattes

Specialty coffee roaster and third-wave coffee shop Intelligentsia has entered the ready-to-drink retail space with its new line of bottled beverages. The single-serve products include Cold Coffee, Oat Latte, and Spiced Oat Latte—each inspired by café bestsellers. For the latte varietals, Intelligentsia partnered with Oatly to ensure its creamy caffeinated offerings are vegan-friendly. The standard Oat Latte combines Oatly oat milk with Cold Coffee, and the spiced version riffs on this combination with the addition of cinnamon, vanilla, orange, and ginger.

Black-Owned Vegan Business Spotlight: Vegan Mob

Vegan Mob began with owner and founder Toriano Gordon giving out free vegan gumbo on a street corner in early 2019. Less than seven months of pop-ups and farmers markets later, the brick-and-mortar restaurant opened its doors in Oakland and has been cranking out next-level vegan BBQ and soul food ever since. How did Gordon manage to build this small dream into a profitable restaurant in less than a year? You’re not the only one who wants to know. Gordon credits his success to making quick decisions and never giving up.
