Vegan Things to Do in L.A. This Weekend: February 7-9
We search the web for the best vegan things to do in the city, so you don’t have to. Here’s what’s happening this weekend.
Friday, February 7
Book Your Vegan Valentine’s Day Dinner
LA-area restaurants are setting up special prix-fixe menus to help you get in the mood this Valentine’s Day. Check out Crossroads, Cafe Gratitude, and Plant Food and Wine, among others. But hurry! The big day is only one week away!
Live Music at Bestie’s Vegan Paradise
Settle in and listen to a live performance by Kingston Tree while you nosh on vegan eats and sweets from Lettuce Feast, Misha’s Cheese, Bohdi Bowl, and Coney Island Ices. Perfect for the office crowd, this even takes places between 6pm-9pm.
LA is getting another vegan grocery store—well, at least until March 1. Take advantage of this uniquely curated, vegan pop-up grocer this Friday when it opens its doors at 10am.
Order Your Valentine’s Day Cookies from Mary Kate
These are not your run-of-the-mill vegan cookies. This small-batch vegan baker packs her chewy, baseball-sized chocolate chip cookies with cookie dough, brownie batter, peanut butter, and more. The special Be Mine four-pack goes on sale at 11:30am this Friday. If you’re reading this at 11:45am, she’s probably already sold out. Follow MaryKatesVeganCakes for details.
Vegan Pop-Ups in Highland Park
Come for a cocktail at Block Party, stay for mouthwatering vegan street food vendors, and cap off the night with a midnight donut at Donut Friend. The party starts at 6pm and rages until 12am!
Saturday, February 8
Cooking Class at SunCafe
Acquire a taste for Russian cuisine as Chef Ron Russell leads you through this three-course menu. Sample and learn how to recreate traditional dishes such as mushroom stroganoff, borscht, and vegetable-laden kasha buckwheat.
Carnival Caffeination and Pastry Palooza
For the true coffee and beer connoisseurs, the drive is worth it. Each ticket includes tastings from dozens of local beer and coffee purveyors along with vegan-friendly pastries and sweets. If you’re drinking, stay down south for a while and grab dinner before you head back. Safety first!
Sunday, February 9
Host an Oscar Watching Party
The Governor’s Ball—the official post-show Oscar party—will be 70-percent plant-based this year with over 40 vegan options for celebrity guests to choose from. Get inspired by the small plate tagine and maitake mushroom salads and host your own gourmand watch party.
For some, a weekend is not complete without a trip to Smorgasburg. Indulge in your vegan favorites such as Cena Vegan, Madame Shugah, or try the new and vegan-friendly Burmese Please.
Vegan Exchange LA
Vegan Exchange is Vegan Street Fair’s weekly vegan market. From 11am-5pm, stroll Bakman Ave in NOHO looking for your next food and Instagram story victim. This Sunday only, be sure to check out The Pizza Plant truck for free samples!
