10 Vegan Multivitamins to Supplement Your Plant-Based Diet

10 Vegan Multivitamins to Supplement Your Plant-Based Diet

Feb 2, 2020 BY: Anja Grommons

So, you’re vegan and you’re wondering if you should take a multivitamin. First of all, good for you for taking charge of your health! Although you might be looking for a quick “yes” or “no” answer, the long and short of it is: it depends.

While it is recommended that vegans supplement with vitamin B12 and possibly vitamin D depending on where you live, taking a multivitamin is not necessarily required. Consuming a well-balanced vegan diet may meet your micronutrient needs, but what if you still want to supplement? Maybe you’re a self-proclaimed “junk food vegan” or you’re working on loving that fruit and veggie section of your plate. Regardless of your “why,” taking a multivitamin may be a great idea for your lifestyle. It’s important to note that not all vitamins are vegan. Some contain gelatin or utilize vitamins derived from animal sources (yuck!). On the other hand, plenty of vegan vitamins exist on the market today, but how do you choose? Leave it to us! We dug in and found 10 vegan multivitamins to consider in your search.

NOW

This brand is a true trailblazer in the natural products industry. NOW has been in operation since the 1960’s, so they definitely know their stuff! Today they offer many vitamins, minerals, and herbal supplement combinations. Opt for one of their many vegan multivitamins, such as their Multi-Food supplement, to meet your micronutrient needs.

MyKind Organics

Choose the Vegan Vitality Multivitamin for Men and Women. This supplement is 100% animal-free and offered in small, easy-to-swallow capsules. Don’t let the small capsule sizes fool you, this multi is packed with plant-derived nutrients to help fill the gaps in your diet.

Yuve

This supplement line offers a host of Peta-endorsed, vegan supplements. Yuve has created a black cherry and cranberry flavored liquid multi, making it an easy and tasty way to meet your micronutrient needs. Sounds scrumptious.

Country Life

Country Life has created, Beyond Food, a vegan-approved multi comprised of a blend of whole, plant food sources including a variety of greens. This supplement is iron-free, so if that interests you, Beyond Food is your new go-to. To ensure adequate iron intake, make sure to opt for legumes, greens, molasses, and dried fruits often.
