Vegan Restaurant Rebel Cheese Wins Austin’s Best New Restaurant

Rebel Cheese, an artisan vegan cheese and sandwich shop in Austin, has been open less than a year, but it’s already making headlines. Their charcuterie boards, lox bagels, and sandwiches piled high with house-made meats have propelled this cafe to the front of Austin’s decorated food scene.

While they’ve already won plenty of “best restaurant” and “best new restaurant” vegan categories for various other awards, they were recently voted “Best New Restaurant” in the CultureMap Tastemaker Awards. Rebel Cheese was up against taco trucks, BBQ joints, pizza cafes, craft ice cream spots, and more. They were the only plant-based restaurant in the running, which makes this a huge win for the vegan movement!
