This month, Matthew Kenney is bringing his Michelin-rated pizzeria to Boston, MA with the opening of the fifth location of Double Zero, a plant-based pizzeria and wine bar that offers wood-fired pizzas in a warm and casual atmosphere. Like the design layout of the original East Village, NYC location, the space features natural and light woods, polished concrete floors, and walls displayed with mirrored shelves of organic, biodynamic wines.

Double Zero Pizza Dough

It’s all in the Double Zero pizza dough, as the restaurant uses a 00 flour, which is a finely ground specialty Italian flour that has largely been considered the gold standard for pasta and pizza dough.

“Double Zero Pizza offers a healthy, plant-based adaptation of a universally loved food,” says Matthew Kenney, CEO of Matthew Kenney Cuisine. “Made with the best dough using the best flour—00, the brand’s namesake—and honoring traditional styles, while constantly experimenting with new dishes, is what makes our pizzas unique … not just in the plant-based market, but within the pizza industry overall.”

The Double Zero Menu

The Double Zero menu features classics such as the Truffle Pizza (cashew cream, wild mushrooms, Tuscan kale, lemon vinaigrette), Bianca Pizza (macadamia ricotta, cashew mozzarella, almond parmesan, rice mozzarella, pepperoncini, rapini, and plant yolk), Artichoke Conserva (confit white beans, parsley, and celery leaf), and Spicy Pepperoni Pizza (tomato, Calabrian chili, macadamia ricotta, and agave). In addition, the restaurant features a large selection of sustainable and biodynamic wines.

“The wine list is [composed] of organically made, high-quality, and naturally vegan wines from mostly family-owned estates, all designed to pair with Double Zero’s range of Italian-inspired dishes,” says Sunny Gundara, Wine Director at Matthew Kenney Cuisine. “The idea behind the wine selection is to show that vegan wines can span from classic regions to new and exciting areas of the world with producers who focus on environmentally friendly farming.”
