Stalk & Spade is bringing vegan burgers to Minneapolis, Miami, and Des Moines this year!
After opening its first location in Wayzata, Minnesota last Earth Day, Stalk & Spade just announced a major expansion. It’s launching as a vegan fast-casual franchise, opening 12 locations nationwide.
Stalk & Spade Provides Convenient Plant-Based Renditions of American Favorites
Stalk & Spade provides convenient plant-based renditions of American favorites such as burgers, chicken sandwiches, nuggets, wraps, fries, and sundaes. It was founded by entrepreneur and restaurateur Steele Smiley, who also owns the salad chain Crisp & Green.
“We’re not just simply serving food. We’re helping introduce people to a healthy lifestyle. The pandemic has taught people that taking care of their health is a good thing. Steele Brands is driving the health and wellness sector in fast-casual dining. We’re attracting new customers every day who are inspired by our brands because they’re fast, casual, and healthy,” shared Smiley.
First Vegan Fast-Casual Restaurant Franchise
This month, the Stalk & Spade team announced plans to open 12 new franchise locations across the country. This year, vegan restaurants will open in the Minneapolis, Miami, and Des Moines areas, with additional locations to be announced in the near future. This will make Stalk & Spade the first vegan fast-casual restaurant franchise with stores in multiple states.
The first new location will open on the outskirts of Minneapolis at 3925 W 50th St, Edina, MN 55424 on Friday, April 29. The franchisees of this restaurant are former Olympian and NHL hockey player David Backes and his wife, Kelly Backes. They both transitioned to a plant-based diet when their doctors suggested it due to health issues David experienced in the league.
“We are thrilled to welcome David and Kelly Backes to the Stalk & Spade family. David and Kelly Backes are an incredible representation of the Stalk & Spade brand. We could not be more excited to partner with them as we spread the plant-based movement across the nation,” said Smiley.
The next location will open later this spring at 528 N Washington Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55401. Following that, the Miami location opens this summer and Des Moines this fall. The specific addresses of both stores have yet to be announced.
