Upton’s Naturals, known for their seitan meat alternatives, planned to debut its newest products at Expo West 2020 (which was postponed due to coronavirus concerns). The company will now soon roll out the Updog, Banana Blossom, and Organic Jackfruit.

The Updog, the ultimate Chicago-style vegan hot dog, is flavored with onion powder and yellow mustard seeds. This 100% vegan frank is made from wheat-gluten seitan and clocks in at 19 grams of protein. The algae-based casing sets the Updog apart from other vegan hot dogs on the market. The Updog will be available for purchase at Whole Foods in the Midwest starting May 2020 and will retail for $5.99 for a 10 oz package (4 links). Upton’s Banana Blossom is an innovative new product sourced from Sri Lanka. What is a “banana blossom” anyway? It’s an edible tear-shaped flower at the end of a banana cluster! The texture is soft yet crunchy, with a neutral taste, and is loaded with nutrients. Uptons is rolling out their very first organic item, the Organic Jackfruit which uses young jackfruit (free of fat, sugar, gluten, and soy). The Banana Blossoms and Organic Jackfruit (pre-shredded, 7 oz) will be sold in shelf-life stable packaging across the country at Whole Foods beginning May 2020. Who's ready to make some juicy jackfruit carnitas?
